and it's a bit late to do anything about it now.

I did mine. I couldn't bear the thought of loads of people faffing around me. But NOW, with my longer hair I would def get it blow dried properly. What sort of hair have you got? I would still do my own make up though I think.

YANBU. I would. Can't stand anybody doing my make up or hair, I know how I like it done, and I certainly wouldn't pay anybody to do it when I'm quite capable and often asked to do others make up!

YANBU, I did mine myself - hair was covered so just tied it up. Make-up was costing waaay too much so did it myself and was pleased that it was natural looking. The key is to get a good foundation.

Yanbu.

People who have make up done professionally often look over done and a bit orange.

well, I don't really know what I am doing with my hair. It's shoulder length and I just plan on giving it a bit of bounce and then pinning it up messily with a big flower.

Mak-up I rarely wear so don't want someone plastering me with stuff, prefer to chance it myself.

I did my own and got compliments! I just had my hair loose, curled with a tiara/headband in it, and piled on the make-up. I hate having people faff about with my hair and didn't want anyone to touch my face!

YANBU. I did mine on my own after trying a few different things to see what I liked. There is a lot of good hair and make up videos on youtube if you've not decided on anything yet

My hair was done by a hairdresser friend but i did my own make up. No way would i let any one else loose on my face - you have to live with those piccies for years to come.

I wear lot of mascara and eyeliner with dark colours and DSis was horrified that i planned to do the same for my wedding. Well guess what - i look like me on those piccies not some washed out version.

I did my own make up, not my own hair though, I would have though if I hadn't had a hair trial I liked.

Natural colours on eyes - maybe a bit of brown and cream. If you don't normally wear mascara a good tip is to put it just on the outermost lashes esp if you have dark eyelashes (says she who puts it on with a trowel) and maybe a bit of lip gloss.

And practice......

I did mine and was very happy with how i looked.
They tend to really overmake up your face so it shows up on the photos and two of my friends both hated theirs when it was done because they felt they were plastered in it.

After a disastrous practice with a hairdresser (I looked like someone had stuck a pillar box on my head) I did mine (with a bit of faffing from best woman and sister)

I did my make up (also after a disastrous practice with someone else) then we did my hair in about 15 mins flat (I was late but then I had decorated the hall that morning too!). Pinned in a messy up do with lots of little diamonte hair pins. Everyone kept asking where I'd got my hair done including my two friends who I know had spent an enormous amount of money on professionals for their wedding

Actually Bonnycat is right - I remember being a bridesmaid for a friend who got a 'professional' in. I ended up orange (I'm very fair skinned), plastered with makeup with a middle aged tight bun (I was 22) and had to take out 152 (I counted them) pins out of my hair at night. I felt like I'd been sprayed with laminate. Awful.

I had a hairdresser do my hair (local one that I'd used for years though).

Did my own make-up (despite someone doing a make-up course offering to do it...didn't like how orange she usually looks ). Got loads of compliments on it and was really pleased I'd done it myself.

I'm doing my own hair as its short, so cant really "do" anything with it. I'm a fan of the "I'm just stepped out of the salon" look.

Am having my make-up done though, have a trial booked for a couple of weeks... will report back

I did my own make up but did have my hair done. The florist was quite shocked when I ordered my wedding bouquet and button holes over the phone though . I told her what I wearing and what I liked/didn't like, and said that I trusted her. The bouquet was beautiful and I cried when it arrived.

I had my make up done when I was a bridesmaid for my sister - I was so caked in the stuff I daren't smile or eat in case my face fell off! DS didn't recognise me at first and DP said I looked like a goth!

Would definitely do mine myself if it was my wedding.

I did my own make-up too, never normally wear a lot so used a tinted moisturiser as a base which worked brilliantly. I did go and have a 'make-up lesson' though, I think most of the major department stores do it, might be worth looking into? I went to a Bobbi Brown one (ok, her make up isn't cheap, but you don't have to buy it!) and it was brilliant, they asked about what I normally wore, how I wanted to look, and what they suggested was perfect. Make sure you have a trial run first, with hair and make-up. You'll look gorgeous!

i would probably do my own make up but have someone do my hair but then I'm fussy - when ever anyone does my eye make up I end up looking like an old woman or a drag queen!

If you are going to do your own make up why don't you go to a few make up counters and get some free make overs so they can show you how to doyour own make up. and treatyourelf to some new stuff.

YANBU - did my own make-up for my wedding. Ended up going to a hairdressers for my hair but it was long and very thick so getting it into any sort of an up-do was a mission that I couldn't handle by myself.

People have lots of set ideas about how to organise a wedding (second only to how to parent!) and you just have to ignore them and enjoy your day

One thing I did do that I found helpful was going for a make-over at the Bobby Brown stand in Howells.

Helped give me some ideas, and switched me onto blusher, which I had never used, but did give me a bit of colour in the pictures.

I got my hair washed and straightened at the hairdressers in the morning (waste of time really - I could have got exactly the same result at home) and did my own makeup.

On the day my mum, bridesmaid and I spent way too much time having a laugh and drinking champagne so I ended up having 15 mins to get into my dress and makeup on. No problem!

Was a great excuse to spend way too much money on posh foundation and a new lipstick.
