and decided I want to get take away Pizza and play guitar hero with a few friends on saturday to celebrate, I have just been told by DH on the phone that as one of my (closest) friends cannot eat cheese at the moment I will have to think of something else to get as a take away WTF (he is there with her at the moment having a cuppa and socialising DD).

I mean really. Since when has birthdays been about what other people want to do?

AIBU, a miserable old cow, or should I be able to eat and do wtf I like on my irthday.

I am going to clean up the pit of a bedroom, as one of my biggest wishes is to be able to wake on on my birthday and not feel like I live in an unorganised storeroom (tall order, as the builders are in our loft so the storage is somewhat reduced right now) but I shall be back.

Can't your friend just opt out of the pizza and order something else instead?

Well she is bloody well going to have to figure something out, cos I don't want anything else! To be honest, I am not entirely sure she is saying I need to get something else, I think it is DH trying to be accommodating.

my food choices are limited as it is, due to a delicate stomach this pregnancy, I am not going to eat something else just to please one person! Or, to be hones to please anyone else.

yes, I know, selfish attitude, but I have gone out of my way for DHs birthday, fathers day, DDs birthday, helped out with a baby shower gone wrong, I just want to put my feet up this weekend and not be accommodating any more

I mean, the whole point I don't want to do anything is I don't want to organise anything, create expectations or whatever. Blimey, even geting a boody pizza is not as easy as it sounds .

Sorry for the rant, it would have been much more simple if people just said something like 'why don't i pop in for an hour say hi, drop off a card' or 'a relaxing weekend just dh, dd and you? sounds lovely' or DH himself say 'whatever you want babe' rather than 'bloody hell pavlov, its your birthday, everyone celebrates their birthday, why do you have to be a miserable cow about it?' Except I am only miserable now its been made a big deal, would have been happy with low key, really happy.

Strange that we can't be happy unless we are out clubbing or something.

[grrrrr]

blametheparents - garlic bread a no-no. It makes me physically sick just smelling it right now!

DH said 'why don't I make a nice pizza? I can make a nicer one that you will get as a take-away?' Nooooooo! I do not want a home made pizza! I want a greasey cheesey smelly expensive delivered pizza!!!

I'd tell him to sod off.

It's your birthday, your day, I'm sure your friend can order a pizza without cheese.

Your birthday plans sound great to me. Much better than going clubbing imho.

YANBU. I dont like celebrating birthdays at all. I hate being the centre of attention; always have, and in any case where my birthdays are concerned I am in denial! You should do exactly what you want. You are not a miserable old cow at all.

My friend has some home made pasties she can eat - she is on an exclusion diet or whatever it is called to eliminate possible allergies, so much of what is in a cheeseless pizza is no good for her. She is perfectly happy to do this.

I have a few people coming around, those who I could not not invite iyswim, and already there are too many!
