AIBU?

To think these people could have waited to smoke their drugs?

I went to a festival on Saturday with a very easily led (mum) friend.

We met up with her little (19 yo) sister and ended up sitting with her friends for most of the night.

Later on I needed to pop home and they needed to pop to the garage, on the way back we walked through the park and they said they wanted to have a joint.

I told them I didn't feel comfortable around it and didn't like it but the still went ahead and 'skinned up' any way.

They gave some to my easily led friend, and i know it is her decision, but if they had waited until they had got back and went of so I didn't have to be around it then there is no way she would have sought it out.

Don't get me wrong, I am not perfect, I have tried drugs in my teens but know that if anyone had ever said they were uncomfortable around it I wouldn't ever have gone against that.

So AIBU to feel angry that they didn't wait until i was gone and risk the police finding us and risk being associated with it?

I have a DS and feel it is very important to stay well clear of anything like that now, and feel that it is my responsibility as a mother to make sure DS knows that drugs are bad.

What makes it sound like I am having a laugh?

That I have been dwelling on this since Saturday (or rather sunday morning?)

No.
I just think they, as adults made a decision. There were no children involved. Their decision, and your choice to stay

um, it's just a bit of weed, not smack.

Chances are your DS will be like every kid in the country and try it at some point, and may even like it. You telling him that 'drugs are bad' isn't going to stop him.

And when he does try it and realises that the effects are milder than the alcohol he will have seen 'grown ups' consume on myriad occasions, if you have told him drugs are bad, he's hardly going to respect that opinion.

You are far better off telling him that drugs are illegal, that they can make you feel very good, but also very bad and over time it's far more likely to be the latter.

And to set your mind at rest, if the police had turned up, the only people they would be interested in are those smoking / possessing it, not the person standing next to them.

And surely you could have just walked off?

You can't expect them not to do what they want to do just because you don't like it. YABU.

Well if you feel that strongly you should have walked on. People who smoke weed really see no big deal about smoking some and you being near then when they did wouldn't lead to your arrest.

Nobody forced you to have any.

I think you're annoyed because you feel your feelings should have been at the top of everyone's list.

I feel annoyed because if they had waited until we got back to everyone else then I could ave chose not to be with them, as it was I didn't want to walk out of the very dark park and all the way back on my own.

Thread title doesn't say anything about NOT smaoking the drugs, just about waiting.

they were just having a joint and as others have said if you feel that strongly about it you could have walked away.

also don't see how your friend being easily lead comes into it at all. she was offered a toke of a joint and she decided to take it.

yabu to still be angry about this let alone angry in the first place.

More importantly, did your friend say it was good gear??

I think yabABITu.

As you didn't have your dc's with you then you could have possibly gone on ahead. I know what you mean about not wanting to risk any trouble. But its not the end of the world. I can't stand the stuff anymore TBH, seen too many people messed up by it.

They weren't forcing you to smoke any of it. As you were outside you were unlikely to get passively stoned. YABU.

Me too meglet, incuding a good friend who killed himself once he had been sectioned several times and was extremely paranoid.

I know it is THEIR decision to smoke it, but they took away my decision to not be around it!

Yes, I could have walked home but being a single mum I can't afford to put myself in danger like that.

I am really at the amount of you that drugs are ok

And also very at the amount of you that think I should have risked walking ahead, on my own, in the dark, early hours of the morning.
