AIBU?

to want to tell people to cover up their cracked heels and acres of hard yellowing skin?

now that we have all gone tightless and sockless....

it is just revolting when you see a made-up woman then get to her feet and see acres of white/yellow/grey hard skin on her heels.

Have they never heard of footfiles and foot cream?

Why are you staring at people's feet.

Love the skin you're in.

Most people have other worries. Who cares? Have you got a foot fetish?
I'm more bothered about men's hairy white legs....urghh!

ew men's big fat bellies, seen a few of those today

I was thinking the same thing today after meeting a woman in my local park's cafe. The skin on her feet was so thick and yellow.
How does it get like this? Are any medical conditions that cause it? I m not very good with footfiles etc but i never have so hard skin.

YABU. Who looks at other peoples heels?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/06/2009 19:36

YANBU - a foot file (or in my case, an industrial grinder) and flexitol is all that is needed. If you grind and moisturise for three nights on the trot all will be well.

I am curious too how people's heels end up like that. Maybe I just have slimy feet?

Report
mrsmerryweather · 27/06/2009 19:39

Why am I staring at people's feet? Because they are in front of me in the queue at the supermarket, the bank, the station... and it's a bit hard to miss them!

Better things to do? A bit of personal grooming never goes amiss- and cracked hard skin eventually gets painful and can even get infected.

I suppose all you lot who never bother have dirty finger nails that you never cut/file?

I have no idea BOF. Mine aren't yellow though.

I have been filing mine half heartedly - seems to work.

Not sure why the OP is angry about it

ha ha ...try working in a shoe shop...bits of manky skin everywhere, I never cease to be amazed. I have hideous feet but wouldn't expect someone else to touch them (except dh) ...an elderly lady invited me to "feel her corn" the other day. Thanks but no thanks, love! I think people just don't realise how grotty their feet are.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/06/2009 19:42

My feet would end up like that if I left them to it.

I have to religiously file and moisturise.

I'd just advise you to look elsewhere but I'm sure someone else's elbows or eyebrows would then offend you.

lol, I am not angry- there is a touch of irony to my post in case you thought I was being deadly serious...I just think it looks YUCK nad people should have a bit more pride in their appearances when they put display bits to the world.

this is along the lines of the post a while back about why men get their shirts off at the first hint of sun.. and show bellies/hair/etc etc over the meat counter in tesco.

I'm an ex-dancer and everyone in my family has really dry skin on their hands and feet so as a result of those 2 factors, my feet resemble those of a 90 year old man. I use all manner of files/graters/industrial sanders followed by the most unctuous creams you can use without basically smearing your extremities in lard but the result of all that hard work is that they then merely look 'awful' instead of their natural 'grotesque'! Some people just have really, really tough skin on their feet, so don't judge us, please!

(And when I say tough, I really mean it - I can walk barefoot on gravel without particularly feeling it!)

It's not as bad as men wearing socks with sandals - now THAT is a crime against humanity!

YANBU - although I confess to having hairy toes myself which get waxed when if I go to a salon for a leg wax...
Giles Coren wrote a silly piece in the TImes a couple of weeks back saying exactly this. I would find it on th enet and do a link but have no idea and am too hot to try to find out.

Well, after the dc/dh/full time job and a very basic beauty routine my feet tend to get forgotten.

I never thought they'd be judged - but then again people probably notice my very grey hair that I don't dye before they notice my grebby feet

I manage to keep the manky skin reasonably under control, but I have a big gap between the big toe and the smaller toes (about an inch), which I'm really self-conscious about, but for the last few years I've thought, sod it, why should I swelter in hot shoes all summer.

Now I'm wondering if people are thinking I shouldn't be wearing sandals with my hideous feet.

Only if we can ban shorts if you have flabby legs and cellulite, vest tops if you have bingo wings and crop tops if you do not have a wash board tum.

Burka it is then....

Yes, and cropped trousers on stumpy legs, skinny jeans on size 10+, scoop necked tops on crepey chests, tattoos if you don't resemble Angelina Jolie - need I go on?
