AIBU?

In thinking that the recent upsurge of trolls coincides with the recent bashing the BNP got on this very site?

Just a thought?

Interesting theory.

I think trolling on that level might be beyond the wit of your average BNP supporter.

Reading too much into it I think.
I think it coincides with threads like this.....it's like a perpetuating thing I can't think of the word for (not a vicious circle, but like that)

Well we had one on whether 2 foreigners speaking in their own language to each other was rude or not - the OP was intimating that it was extremely rude.

Then we had the one that opinionated rape within marriage wasn't possible, and if you remember, myself and others highlighted the BNP's ignorant views on rape.

The BNP are notoriously sexist, so it would make sense to target a site such as Mumsnet would it not? After all, they say that the problem with the world today is working mothers.

A self fulfilling prophecy paisley?

I would like to think that the BNP wouldn't be arsed about it but I am sure they have plenty of supporters with nothing better to do.

Hmmm........good theory. bastard trolls

Most of the recent trolls haven't been like that though, have they? Just more of the usual sad-sacks/emotionally stunted/teenagers doing exams etc?

(Can I take you to pedant's corner please Rhubarb? The word you want is 'opined', not opinionated. Sorry )

I can imaine that Nick Griffin is the type who likes to google himself and the BNP - so it's entirely possible that he's stumbled upon some threads here. Not very inventive way of getting your own back though is it? Anonymous posts to anonymous people.

IMAGINE - grrr I am going to ban myself if I make one more typo today.

PirateRoberts (wasn't too keen on that film as it happens) no you cannot! If that word is good enough for Conan Doyle and my countless English Lit essays then it's good enough for Mumsnet!

Bloody cheek!

Gah! Insulted by a squiggly drawn pink cat!

(But pretty sure that 'opinionated' is an adjective, not a verb)

Report
Rhubarb · 16/06/2009 14:24

It's a lazy verb that I just made up because it sounded better than saying 'that opinionated that'.

I can do what I like to the English language so there! Phbbbttt!

I like the word opinionated to mean opinionated. I also like the word opined to mean opined. But then again I feel very comfortable in Pedants' Corner.

Hilarious, isn't it, that the BNP think working mothers are the scourge of the planet, yet propose to stop benefits for single mothers.

What, pray, are they supposed to feed their children with?

Taleban anyone?

Oh, and YANBU. The thought had occurred to me too.

I keep spelling the real name for a spud wrong. I'm not going to even type in in fear of the rebuke I'd be at risk from

Trolls infuriate me to such a degree my head comes very close to exploding. I actually just cannot understand why people do it!
