Im not talking your occasional glass is half empty type person...

im talking about the person who is always sick/going through some sort of crisis/angry about something/ they are seriously oppressed and there is some conspiricy against them!!!!

You havent spoke to them for a little while and about 10 seconds after you spark up a catch up conversation you realise why

Some people seriously need an insight into how bad life can really get and please try and cheer up..........

lol am not a very tolerent person today am I

It is very very very annoying.

But YABU, of course. Just because they are annoying and whiney doesn't mean we should wish bad things on them. Even if a sense of perspective might be beneficial.

My FIL is like this, bad things only ever happen to him. The rest of us don't know how lucky we are.

Drives me nuts. I have bad thoughts about lacing his food with arsenic every week. He comes over for a meal once a week and all he does is moan.

just cos it is not as bad as your something bad, does not mean that they cant moan

It was a confusing post.

Actually I find over-bouncy people quite annoying too, the sort who like everyone and love everything and think everything is super-smaching-fantastic!

I know someone like this, I saw her come down my driveway one morning when she knew DS2 was a playgroup and I hid in my understairs cupboard for 10 mins till she buggered off!

Report
psychomum5 · 09/06/2009 18:41

I have moments of being like tigger-on-speed

and also moments of being moaning-minnie

it is the ones who instead of having a sniffle, they have a full blown cold, instead of a full-blown cold, they have pnuemonia, instead of pnuemonia, they have swine flu............instead of having a mole cut out, their whole leg got amputated

YANBU and YABU don't get into a pissing contest with them and say 'everything normal then' when they start. They quickly find out you aren't a sympathetic ear and wander off to find somebody who is.

But then I find I have VERY little patience for this type of person due to my mother being one.

Riven, there is a difference between somebody going through a truly horrible time and the type of person who's life crumbles around their ears when they get a sore throat.

Nobody with an ounce of empathy would put anyone in that category who'd been through all that!

I wouldn't wish bad things on anyone but I do agree that some people don't know how lucky they are. One person I work with is constantly moaning about the traffic/cost of bread/her friends etc etc while we sit a couple of seats away from a lady who has just come back to work after having aggressive cancer treatment and probably has about 5 years to live - some people need to get perspective but maybe they're just lucky not to have ever had something bad to them?

op your moaning

Report
psychomum5 · 09/06/2009 19:36

ah but riven, we are not talking at all about someone who really does need to offload, as you I know from on here, offload as well as listen and give advice.

the moaning minnies are the ones who go on and on and on about themselves, how poor they are (when they don;t actually understand the meaning of the word), how cold it always is, how gray the sky is each day, how rude the customer service lady was when she didn;t acknowledge you waiting in the queue five back from the desk (altho they couldn;t cos they couldn;t see you due to the many people in front) etc etc.

oh, and when you do start saying about how stressful yesterday was because you had to speak to the paed about your DD, they then just cut you off and launch into how bad it was for them, last year, when they tried to get an appointment urgently about a broken nail, that was hanging off, and they were going on holiday that day and no-one listened blah blah blah.

THAT is a moaning minnie!!!

Riven there is a difference...I hvae friends who have been in similar situations to yours...and indeed a very good friend who lost a child , I have a friend with ME and...now that is a tough one to keep the sympathy up with but I knew her for years before her illness and it really floored her

psychomum puts it perfectly "it is the ones who instead of having a sniffle, they have a full blown cold, instead of a full-blown cold, they have pnuemonia, instead of pnuemonia, they have swine flu............instead of having a mole cut out, their whole leg got amputated "

I have all the time in the world for those who are truly suffering.......I have had my fair share myself and my friends have been there for me....it is the attention seeking hypochondriacs im on about
