ok well i dont know if its normal, and ive not had morning sickness or anything so i should be grateful but...I am nearly 19+4 with DC, and i have been sufferring with heart burn like you wouldnt believe!! normally it just wakes me up, i puke up some attractive yellow stuff (Which stings and tastes foul, i think its stomach acid) and then have a gaviscon and im sorted...

but this morning, it came out of my nose also!! and it really burnt... and all DH could do is pass me an extra gaviscon.... no "are you ok?" just gaviscon...he is gonna get it....

AIBU to think that he should care and get up to wait on Poor me, poor me! and also be a bit worried that if the wives tail is true this child will be chewbacka!!

I am of course joking but is this business normal gaviscon is not touching it for long ??

Sorry but nothing works any better than Gaviscon, and i didn't find that worked particularly well, i ended up eating Rennie like they were smarties

I don't know if the old wives tale is true but my DD had a lot of hair, only on her head though, which was a relief

2 things here really.
First of all your DH should go and bring you somethign lovely for breakfast, and make lunch too, and possibly dinner, along with allowing you full control of the remote all day.
TBH, you have been sick, and it sounds like you have been sick a lot, this is morning sickness!

Second I woudl call your MW as that doesn't really sound pleasant, maybe she has some ideas or advice?
Sounds grim though.

One disclaimer, are you sure he was awake when you told him that?

he was sort of half asleep, but i said it all in that really pitiful child-like way..how could he resist me!! I think a day of full waiting on is in order! And also think that a trip to the docs for some lovely jar sized bottles of gaviscon is also ont he way!! thanks ladies, just wondering if this will of caused poor chewbacka stuck in there any problems??

I doubt it, it's between you, your stomach and your windpipe!

I have stomach acid problems when I'm not pregnant and can recommend Yakult and lots of green leafy vegetables - minimise fatty food and while you should obviously still be getting your carbs in, don't go overboard on bread/ rice / pasta either.

But of course your stomach is being squished by the baby and there's not much you can do about that one...

the hair thing is bolleaux - DS bald as a bald thing and I had horrific heart burn, with the bile thing that you describe.

Preventative gaviscon glugging helped somewhat. Along with only eating small amounts, more often. Glug milk like it's going out of fashion too - it makes it slightly more bearable on it's way back up. Try and avoid things like crisps, crusty bread etc. When I got to the point I couldn't cope any more I went to the doctor and he prescribed ranitidine - my life improved dramatically. It's Zantac (brand name) which on the packet says to avoid in pregnancy but GP said it is fine - DS, now 3 is absolutely fine currently bugging me...

it's miserable so YANBU - make the bile go in his direction next time!

I had heartburn like that, and being sick because of it-not nice at all.

Nothing really works for long but I found that alternating between ice cold milk, ice(slush puppies work well) and the gaviscon.

If you sleep propped up it helps to stop the acid rising, at least that is what I was told and it does work.

Hope you start to feel better and congrats.

I had horrible heartburn with both of mine and Gaviscon did nothing at all to help.

I did have some success with peppermint tea and Colpermin (peppermint oil capsules).

I sympathise!

Old wives' tale is not true, DS had loads of hair when he was born, I have had heartburn precisely 0 times

Sorry, very unhelpful post...

I am now 37 weeks and also feeling very sorry for myself and wondering AIBU to expect my DH to feel sorry for me too. (He has all my symptoms, only worse apparently).

I have found that giving up wheat has really really helped my heartburn (and that means changing all cereal to oat or corn based, no pasta, no bread (esp French Bread which seems really killer) and I have almost also given up cake!!

Had heartburn last time and my son took about 2 years to grow a head of hair though!

I would highly recommend giving no wheat a try - just for a bit - different things trigger heart burn in different people.

Best of luck. You have MY sympathy even if your DH can't muster any.
