AIBU?

to think it funny/ironic that the new neighbours who complained about the noise of our kids are shrieking/hooting on their balcony

background.
2 weeks ago we were lucky enough to buy a weekend holiday flat.

We were very careful to instruct our young kids to be thoughtful and quiet at all times as the walls are thin and we are in a shared space. If the TV is on it is as quiet as poss and we are constantly mindful of the neighbours. No other kids in the block

TWICE in the first week the upstairs posh couple have knocked the door and complained about the noise. We have been courteous whilst thinking "what noise??"

Tonight is the first sunny night and they are on the balcony directly above us hooting and shrieking with their (drunk) pals.

I am not in the least concerned about the noise (that's life) but think it ironic they complained about OUR alleged
noise

what do I say next time they complain???

I would knock the door - just say it is lovely to hear you having such a lovley time that is what life is about - smile and turn on your heel

i would let the kids out on ur balcony at 7am tomorrow...
when they complain tell them they kept your kids up last night and if they want to sleep in they should have respect for your kids as well.

wow great response!

The last thing I want to do is create bad feeling with the new neighbours.

I am a bit cross they complained about us.

We are REALLY careful about noise but totally accept in a flat you can't expect silence.

The day we moved in and introduced ourselves I told them we were careful to teach our kids to be as quiet as poss. They agreed and said you can't expect silence in a conversion !

The other neighbours in the block have indicated that this couple is a pain in the neck.

I want to preserve harmony!!!!

Ivy, uriel, theoddone, thenatty, thanks for making me laugh!
