DH is going to be sleeping in a tent tonight with DS and DD [7yr and 5yr]
we have bought a double airbed for them and it does look cosy - but not my thing

has he gone crazy or is this normal??????????

I'm sure they will love it. Personlly, I would stay inside in a nice bed. It has been raining her today!

Sounds a great idea whilst you spend the evening snuggled up on the sofa with a glass of wine and MN (and the remote control).

hmm is 10months too young to start camping?

The kids will love it - make sure you lock them out and give them a bucket to pee in - for that authentic camping experience!

Did this when we were kids and loved it! We even made our tents out of bed sheets over the washing line as we didn't have a proper tent!

We do this all the time during the summer holidays... so much fun and the dc's love it... Got to say though, the weather forecast is not good tonight! Whereabouts are you?

Why is it mad? I have done this with my kids (when youngest was about 1yr) and they loved it.

Bonkers, but I'd leave him to it if he and the kids love it! Not for me either, I love my bed

Sounds like the sort of thing my DH would do in a shot!

sounds cool. make sure they wrap up really warm, my dh always thinks he will be warm enough and he is a seasoned camper, but i always take a duvet and six jumpers.

last thing you want is them knocking on the door at three in the morning when you are all cosy with the bed to yourself!

What a lovely man. The children will remember this for a long time.
I've done it with mine when they were younger, OH stayed indoors and looked vaguely puzzled when his daughter suggested he come too.

We went camping last week and it was soooooo cold at night.

Get them to wear woolly hats

I did that last week Would have been fun but the airbed kept going down, I pumped it up 3 times in the night but still spent most of the time on the garden path!

The children will love it, don't expect much sleep to be had though and don't be surprised if they crawl back into the house once the cold hits them!

What a lovely dad they've got!

Our neighbours down the road, never go on holiday as they can't afford to. They just send the kids out into the field next to the estate and they sleep out every night when its not raining or too cold.
They are all teenagers and although they are loud, they are not too close to the houses to cause problems.
Anyway, i love the sound of rain on canvas, makes you feel all cozy!

My DH slept in a tent in the garden with dd1 last week (age 4.5) while I had a double bed to myself and looked after dd2 inside! It may be crazy but it suits me!

DD1 (4yo) and DH tried out camping in the garden 2 wks ago. he gave up trying to keep her out there around 11pm when she called him a 'meanie' for coaxing her to stay outside with him and going to sleep.

Oh I used to love camping in the garden but sometimes I would get scared in the night.I would have loved having my dad in with me.I think it is fab.I want to get a tent now so we can do it too!

My two are 13 and 8, and they still LOVE camping in the garden! They do it by themselves now, which is very sweet - but I am a bit because they don't want me or their dad with them any more.
