Ponders Sat 27-Dec-08 17:09:21

You can take them down today for me wink

Katisha Sat 27-Dec-08 17:10:02

So did you put them up on Dec 1st?

Frizbe Sat 27-Dec-08 17:10:21

I know one mumsnetter who took hers down today, so no, I don't think so. Do it when you have chance says I.

piscesmoon Sat 27-Dec-08 17:10:25

YABU. I only got mine up in time for Christmas! I think Christmas should at least stretch to the New Year-even if you can't manage to the 6th Jan.

mumeeee Sat 27-Dec-08 17:10:29

YABU, Everything stays up until 6th January here.

cece Sat 27-Dec-08 17:11:00

Perfectly reasonable to me. We always take ours down before New Years Eve. ASAP I say!

whoingodsnameami Sat 27-Dec-08 17:12:24

Apart from the tree, I am binnig everything as its old, I will get new next year, the binmen come Monday, so want to sort it all tomorrow.

piscesmoon Sat 27-Dec-08 17:12:59

I think it will get to the point where people move Christmas! I hate people having them up at the beginning of December-no wonder they get fed up-why not wait for Christmas in the first place?!

whoingodsnameami Sat 27-Dec-08 17:14:04

I put mn mine up a week before christmas.

MatNanPlusTINSEL Sat 27-Dec-08 17:14:53

ours went up on 24th and will be down on 1st/2nd.

NAB3hundredChristmaslights Sat 27-Dec-08 17:16:16

Do what you want!

Flihgtattendant Sat 27-Dec-08 17:17:57

Ours was up in November and down on Christmas day. All the needles fell off as we took it out grin

Flihgtattendant Sat 27-Dec-08 17:18:19

<so judge me> grin

I took mine down on Christmas Eve grin.

We wernt going to be there for Christmas Day, and are now packing up the house to move next week, so we took them all down and packed the lounge.

ThingOne Sat 27-Dec-08 17:19:55

Yep, bah humbug. We're pretty much twelfth nighters here. Tree does go up a bit before Christmas Eve, usually the weekend before Christmas, and decs stay up until 12th Night. This obviously means we are right and everyone else is wrong grin. Keep 'em up, I say.

Katisha Sat 27-Dec-08 17:20:22

No No No it's only the third day of Christmas today!

Ponders Sat 27-Dec-08 17:21:06

Our tree went up on the 24th & will prob come down next weekend (3rd or 4th)

It's usually up for longer than that but I've bin ill [coff] sad

Acinonyx Sat 27-Dec-08 19:24:40

We always take the decorations down on New Year's Eve. I like it all back to normal for the New Year.

Thunderduck Sat 27-Dec-08 19:26:39

YANBU. I don't see the point of keeping the decorations up beyond boxing day.

Kbear Sat 27-Dec-08 19:27:56

I take my tree down on NY Day with a hangover usually! All nice and tidy for New Year!

MarlaSinger Sat 27-Dec-08 19:33:07

YANBU
Mine will be coming down tomorrow if we can't be bothered to do it tonight

It only went up last weekend

DS is 14 months and keeps taking the baubles off - well of course, they are shiny and at toddler height
but taking them back off him is getting bo-oring

twoluvlysnowmen Sat 27-Dec-08 19:34:14

I always want to take it all down on Boxing Day, dh says I can't.

DD agrees with me, at the ripe old age of 13, Christmas is so "boring" and "yesterday".

I think, just to annoy her, this year I'll keep it all up for as long as possible....

frasersmummy Sat 27-Dec-08 19:34:48

if you dont have kids who will be upset then take them down when it suits you

I like mine to be up for my visitors on hogmanay.

I really hate going back to work when they are still up so mine will be coming down the first weekend in January
