He has started taking dd fishing, he says the bait need to be refrigerated. I have told him to look out for a cheap second hand fridge or on freecycle so they can be kept in the garage,

Where to other men keep their maggots? grin

TOO GROSS FOR WORDS [vomit emoticon] Ditch the maggots or divorce I say shock

TWINSETinapeartree Fri 26-Dec-08 17:01:27

He seemed so surprised when I said no, apparently everyone he knows who fishes keeps their maggots in the fridge!! I was shock too.

Argos have mini fridges for about £20 here

I keep mealworms for my chickens in mine

Where do you keep your fridge nutterly?

NutterlyUts Fri 26-Dec-08 17:04:57

Its in the utility room on the work surface next to the main fridge

My Dad always kept his maggots in the fridge.

In a tightly sealed container (I think)

NutterlyUts Fri 26-Dec-08 17:07:37

No container would be tightly sealed enough for me ;)

<boak>

my sister once babysat for a couple and in the evening she went to get some cake from the fridge (as she had been invited to do) opened a tupperware box...and a million of the tiny feckers exploded in her face. She screamed the fecking house down obviously.

YANBU - I make DH keep his in a small beer fridge in the garage!

Maybe I am unreasonable but maggots are my ultimate Bete-noire. Some people are terrified of spiders or mice; for me, its maggots sad

My wheely bin had maggots last summer - they empty once a fortnight here and I missed bin day - I had to clean it out and cried and gagged alternately.

A mini fridge is deffo the way forward IMHO

TWINSETinapeartree Fri 26-Dec-08 17:19:56

I have a phobia of flies so wherever he keeps them I will not be able to enter.

In the beer fridge in the garage and shed....ALWAYS

I never allowed magotts in the house

kazbeth Sat 27-Dec-08 11:17:11

I'd never let him do this - yuk. My brother is a keen fisherman and has a special fridge in the garage for the maggots. If you don't want to buy one you could try freecycle.

this takes me back to my childhood when my dad used to get maggots for fishing. I don't think mum let him keep them in the fridge. i think he kept them in the garage as it was pretty cold in there.

i used to love racing the maggots.

They keep well for ages in any cool area - we keep ours in the hall where it is very cold.

Blondeshavemorefun Sat 27-Dec-08 13:30:16
