HollyGoHeavily Sat 25-Oct-08 22:08:33

I am doing exactly the same!

Why do people want to watch torture and general horribleness???

bubblerock Sat 25-Oct-08 22:08:58

DH watched all of the DVD's last week ready for the new one coming out - he's at the cinema now watching it - load of crap if you ask me hmm

S1ur Sat 25-Oct-08 22:10:13

2shoes I have issued warnings. I told him he will be haunted by images that WILL NEVER leave him. He grinned. fool.

I am going to go on msn and MN and hide behind my laptop screen's safety.

ToThrottleABlackBird Sat 25-Oct-08 22:24:00

YANBU.dp is trying to persuade me to watch it.I don't do grim torture bloodfest movies. He says it was to get me back after I got Cloverfield out on DVD,which was, admittedly one of the crappest ,ovies I have ever seen.

nickytwoooohtimes Sat 25-Oct-08 22:30:53

God, it is grim isn't it?
I made dh take me to the cinema to see it!
Can't watch it now - too gory.

I would be pretty worried if my dh wanted to watch people being hurt for fun. I honesty think that films like this are a sign of something bad happening to our society.

retiredgoth Sat 25-Oct-08 22:35:32

....I thought only pimply 14 year olds watched the 'Saw' films.

...they are, so far as I can ascertain, formulaic and devoid of merit.

I'm reminded of secondary school, where tatty copies of James Herbert books were surrupticiously swapped (and fell open at the dirty and/or gory bits..)

blossomsmine Sat 25-Oct-08 22:36:41

Yeah, i am hiding in the kitchen!! My dd (15) loves these films too shock she is waiting to see the new one that has just come out................ I would be traumatised!!!

ToThrottleABlackBird Sat 25-Oct-08 22:37:17

Oh dear sad like I said, It is only a film hmm

S1ur Sat 25-Oct-08 22:38:42

RG shock I can assure you I am not married to a fourteen year old!!!

<checks>

nope he has proper man stubble and everfin'

grin

HeinzEVILSight Sat 25-Oct-08 22:39:30

DH is watching it in the lounge, I'm safe in the kitchen watching XFactor. DH tried to convince me it's a 'good' gory movie, has 4 stars in the Radio Times and everything......

nah, will stick with MN and Xfactor smile

naaaaah, I don't think so! but I do retain imagery very well and it 'stays' with me, which is why I choose not to add to the scary stuff in my head already.

retiredgoth Sat 25-Oct-08 22:41:43

...can you ask him if he has any old James Herbert books?

(and if so, may I borrow them. Ahem)

S1ur Sat 25-Oct-08 22:42:32

I believe he has many comics, oh no sorry graphic novels hmm if that helps?

retiredgoth Sat 25-Oct-08 22:44:22

...never quite 'got' graphic novels I must confess.

...fond of the Beano, though.

S1ur Sat 25-Oct-08 23:35:31

well, good lord it has made DH actually gasp a bit and almost cover his eyes. I am vindicated.

ladymariner Sat 25-Oct-08 23:38:53

My best friend loves these films, she likes anything gory. I love things like dirty dancing, mama mia, love actually etc.

Opposites attract grin

S1ur Sat 25-Oct-08 23:44:03
