Ok, so I don't NORMALLY start planning Christmas in late October - but DC no.3 is due on Christmas Eve. Can't face doing this all in Novemeber. So I decided to order my turkey, ham, smoked salmon, xmas tree online from the independent suppliers I use every year. Easy peasy - all done.

Tried to book my main grocery delivery slot for start of Christmas week with Ocado. Keen to avoid the seventh circle of hell that is actually going to a supermarket before Xmas.

Thought at the very least even if the dates weren't released it would tell you WHEN they were so I could diary note it and not miss it. Last year, they filled up before I got a chance to book.

Nothing on website so I emailed them and got THIS piece of waffle:

"Dear Mrs Turniphead,

Thank you for your e-mail.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in choosing Ocado for your Christmas delivery.

We understand this is an important time of year and are taking every step possible to ensure we maintain our usual high standards.

We are currently releasing our Christmas delivery slots in a staggered approach. This allows us to better manage our resources as well as your expectations and ensures a smooth delivery.

Please check back on the website regularly to see if you are able to book a Christmas delivery slot.

Thank you again for your interest, and I hope you enjoy Christmas with Ocado.

If we can be of any further help, or you have any further comments or suggestions, then please contact us by e-mailing [email protected], or by calling us on 0845 3991122 or 0845 6561234 (8am-11pm Mon to Sat, 12-8pm Sun), seven days a week.

Yours sincerely,

Samuel Ashun.
Ocado Customer Service Team"

Er...thanks Samuel. I was quite aware that looking at the Ocado website every day would do the trick (what with not being stupid and all...durrr). I have replied asking could they be a LITTLE more specific.

(And you know I WOULDN'T mind but my fabulously exciting comment in a discussion about public toilet access on Jezza Vine on r2 - that Waitrose will always allow you to use the stafff toilet if you have a small child or are pregnant, was read out on Wednesday. So they OWE me, goddammit!).

However, the fact that public toilet access and Ocado deliveries are taking up my mind leads me to the inescapable conclusion that I REALLY REALLY need to get out more

Turniphead1, thanks for the reminder, will have to start looking for ocado christmas delivery slots myself,

Good luck with finding one, and yes, that was a totally useless response you got!

This thread could really backfire. I could have reminded you all to book your Ocado slot and I will be left bereft and without my family-sized tin of quality street

I've already booked my Christmas delivery slot - they sent me an email last week about it. Sorry, that's probably not a very helpful response but wanted to let you know that they have already released some!
