To want us as a family to treat DDs to HSM & dinner beforehand - not sure??

DD1 is desperate to see HSM3. I have just checked on our local cinema listing and there are tickets for early this evening. We have a really nice Italian next to the cinema and I thought it would be nice for us to have tea 1st and then go and watch the film.

Just phoned DH and he was in a bit of a strop saying "Oh I'm not going, it's not my cup of tea. Why would I want to see HSM?". I was really mad and cut the conversation short. No, HSM isn't my cup of tea either TBH but thought it would be nice for us all to go out and treat the DDs as a family.

AIBU? Not sure really!

Not being unreasonable - tis part of being a parent sitting through things you don't wanna.

It sounds really nice to me - they would be delighted

pinkblossom Wed 22-Oct-08 09:20:33

Thanks Flame. Yes they would be delighted and I was going to surprise them after school but he's gone and put a dampner on it. Will take them on my own.

I think that's a mean and horrible attitude tbh. I'm with you.

DoubleBluff Wed 22-Oct-08 09:23:23

Grrr men!
It's not about him, its a terat for the children.

I hate WWE wrestinlg but will be sitting through it for the sake of DS's!

slayerette Wed 22-Oct-08 09:25:43

Tell him Gordon Ramsay took his kids to see it! If he can check his testosteroney machismo at the door for one evening, I'm sure your DH can grin

PillowOfDOOM Wed 22-Oct-08 09:28:55

Not sure tbh, but could you and dd not have a girlie day and leave dh to fend for himself?

Our local cinema doesn't have this showing yet! angryblush

Wanted to take dd and Trinity's dd's as a treat after Trinity's dd1 had her operation today sad

Will have to look further afield but can't book anything as don't know when they will be home from hospital, although going by last time thet could be home in a couple of hours.

Thanks everyone. It has really upset me that he has said that. I have just texted him to say that Gordon Ramsey took his kids (thanks slayerette) and sure it wasn't his cup of tea either and that he is a miserable old git. Lets see what his reply is.

pinkblossom Wed 22-Oct-08 09:32:09

The things is pillow, me & DDs have loads of girlie treats. Just thought for once it might be nice if we could do something together.

PillowOfDOOM Wed 22-Oct-08 09:36:17

Well then YANBU grin

Shame the miserable git in to it then!

Tell him mn says he has to go!wink

Very envy of you, can you let us know if it's any good just incase we can't get to see it for a while?

Hope you have a fab time grin

PillowOfDOOM Wed 22-Oct-08 09:57:08

Thanks pinkblossom grin

She's out of op theatre so hopefully they (my dd went to hold her hand) will be back early afternoon grin

Hope you have a great time gringringrin

pinkblossom Wed 22-Oct-08 09:58:58

Ah that's great news Pillow - hope the op went well and bless your DD for holding her hand - how sweet, she sounds lovely smile

My DH used to be like this before we had DD (especially about going to the cinema) then would see how much I wanted to see something and say, oh go on then, we'll go) but it had spoilt it for me, why would I want to go with someone that clearly doesn't want to, he will spoil it).

Thankfully my DH is different thesedays, and realises the enjoyment DD would get if the 3 of us went together. He came to see the Tweenies! BUT have to be honest not sure he would be keen at all re HSM3.. so I would probably arrange to go and see it with friends and their children tbh.

elliott Wed 22-Oct-08 10:23:38

I was just thinking , what on earth is HSM3? Took a few minutes for the penny to drop....(you can tell I've got boys!!)

elliott Wed 22-Oct-08 10:24:40

Mind you I would rather scratch my eyes out than go and see it. So if I did have girls, no way would dh be getting out seeing it - if I had to sit through it, so would he!!

CountessDracula Wed 22-Oct-08 10:26:31

Not at all
You are entirely reasonable

Tell him it could be worse - we are taking dd to Beverley Hills Chihuahua grin

CountessDracula Wed 22-Oct-08 10:28:35

oh bum it isn't out here for ages
I thought it would be the half term film

FlameThrowersKillZombies Wed 22-Oct-08 10:31:34

where ARE you CD?!?!

soultaken Wed 22-Oct-08 10:32:31

95% of the time, I do what I have to, 5% of the time I do what I want to.

I thought this was true of all parents.

sparklesandnowinefor2days Wed 22-Oct-08 10:36:32

tell him to get the stick out of his arse and go - its not all about him!

pinkblossom Wed 22-Oct-08 10:51:02

And still no text back from him.

Agree Heifer - he has taken the edge off it now.

grin at Beverley Hills Chihuahua CD!!

CountessDracula Wed 22-Oct-08 10:54:22
