misdee · 02/10/2008 18:37

YANBU - but it would probably be cheaper to have a freeview box and top up with Setanta or whatever.

Oh, but the ability to pause live television! Worth every penny for that, IMHO.

Report
Miyazaki · 02/10/2008 18:39

yeah but you can do that with a freeview recorder...

Report
Upwind · 02/10/2008 18:40

Stuff never seems to be shown at a good time for me so I record series on our freeview box and watch them when I have a chance - then I can pause

AFAIK we have top up tv so could pay for sports channells if we wanted, but my DH prefers to go to the pub!

It is a lot of money but I'll bet he deserves it and you deserve the contented dh.My dh just cancelled sky sport because he says he never gets the time to watch it which I thought was really sad because he does watch it a bit. We both work hard and life is short so why deny yourself?

You DO need Sky Plus. It will change you life.

spudmasher, because we cant afford the extra £124.99 this side of xmas unless we put it on a credit card. or pay extra on direct debits inc another £12 admin fee to do that.

bloody bt.

if we go with virgin for a year, then bt will take us on, inc putting a line in for just £30

Sorry Misdee. Feel really insensitive now- you have just moved and that's expensive. I would not put it on a credit card. Token presents for each other for Christmas?

Nobody 'needs' Sky + - it's a luxury (a lovely on!)

we are moving saturday. spent today looking at alternatives to bt after them telling us it will be £124.99 to put a line in. my jaw hit the ground wouldnt mine sp much, but have had to pay twice already for other properties we have lived in to get lines put in.

really cant understand how a property cant have a bt line. its not like its a new build.

I agree that Virgin is pants and that Sky + is the best

Somebody at work has virgin and hates it. Is trying to get out of the contract.

Sky + seemed pretty good price when we looked into it, worked out at being cheaper than the bt broadband we were paying, even when adding on the bt line...

I covet any + system (virgin or bt).

I have to watch tv as it happens

Report
misdee · 02/10/2008 18:58

the sky wireless is free. skiy now do their own phoneline, but you still need the bt line initially.
its quite a good deal, and i do understand where he is coming from, but am over bt line costs. which you have to have to have sky.

have you tried phoningg bt and telling them virgin is much cheaper, they may bring it down for you!

we have v+ - it is necessary !!

Miyazaki · 02/10/2008 18:59

Flame you don't need a + system, just a freeview recorder. can get one for about £100 one off.

Can pause live telly, record etc. S'great.

I have no idea about Virgin or Sky + but have something that I think is a Freeview recorder. It cost £53 and is brilliant. I love being able to pause stuff when the phone rings.

I got a BT line in this week (well should have apart from bloody Virgin Media being very out of order and cancelling the number port), they are doing a special offer £95 discount if you tie in for 18 months

Virgin are really bad, very poor customer service (I always had good customer service from sky), and this week they have topped it all be starting us on a new locked in contract that I did not authorise and now won't cancel it we have frequent telephone faults that never get fixed and have to re boot the box every morning.
