No make him go now a simple course of abx could have it all cleared up before it really begins.

Get him in there. Take him to the walk-in clinic if you have to or the emergency clinic in hte morning if your surgery has one.

My dad does this. Managed to talk the A&E staff into letting him go home with pneumonia as he agreed to go the GP the next day - he got there at 8AM and was immediately admitted to hospital as he had already developed a secondary kidney infection. He's still quite ill a month on after a fortnight in hospital.

Why people are like this I don't know, but you are not being unreasonable to step in.

Oh yes, trick him into it if you must.
Maybe leave a trail of his favourite food all the way to the surgery door. grin

I hope he is feeling better soon.
