travelodge? camping ? A more plush hotel, as opposed to a B&B?

travelodge, premier inn... all them sort of places do a single night.

Agree that a plush hotel would too.

I've been wanting to go here
www.thelittlemill.co.uk/home.htm

You sleep in a railway carriage and I dont think its expensive.

Most fancy hotels won't do it either - especially in popular areas. They want you for the whole weekend so you will spend more money in the bars and restaurants. I would say your best bet is lastminute.com

are you trying to book over the internet.

why not call in person and plead your case. if you get a couple running a b&b they will understand how hard it is to get away if they have kids.

credit crunch affecting everyone. they probably quiet and needing any sort of booking.
