AIBU?

To be peed off with people who start a new thread, asking people to look at a link.....

.... which then turns out to be a previous thread they started?

Just BUMP YOUR ORIGINAL ONE, FFS.

Or take the hint that people weren't interested enough to post in the first place.

Flippingflip - I'll tell you how this affects me.

I don't like to be ignored in RL or on here, so I make it my mission to check out the unanswered threads.

However, when it turns out that it's a link to a previous thread, I feel my time has been wasted.

Go on, come out with your, "oooh, 3 precious seconds, gone"....

sockmonster - what's wrong with bumping the original thread, then?

That way, people know what they're looking at - and those in a position to help, can go straight to the thread!!!!!

I have done it before, started a thread and noone has answered and I have really needed quick opinions on something so started another in chat with a link.

is the full moon getting fuller now???

people are getting more ranty over very simple things

YABU IMO. tis not a problem for me. and sometimes people ask it in a jokey way, like asking if they have the plague (kerrymum last night for EG), or if they smell.

If you get this upset then it may be time to Step Back and Switch Off, no?

I happen to think it's against the spirit of MN to ask, "blimey, have you seen this?" - which I find is nothing but a very deliberate attempt to tempt people to look at a totally irrelevant (to them (-because they have no experience in the matter)) thread.

Nah, sometimes the original title is dull, and you only realise when you get no reply. If you then post one with a decent title, people look and help with the op

Word · 12/09/2008 18:52

In the case of this example, the OP could have surely got more replies from people who could help, by posting "HELP WANTED WITH COMPUTER" or such like.

Neither thread title gave any indication that it was to do with computer problems at all.

you're contradicting yourself,as you were interested to look & you prowl the unanswered threads

anyhoo no biggie imo, but if it has distracted you from your wine then YANBU

Sometimes I link to an original thread when the situation is linked and it saves typing everything out again.

Not something that bothers me when others do it.

Bang out of order to single out a poster.

Life's too damned short to get so wound up about something so trivial.

IMO.

twinset - maybe, but I was asked for specific examples... and I did and still do apologise for the singling out. Feel free to have it deleted if you think it that wrong.

I don;t do the delete posts thing, think we should all have the common sense to self censor.
