AIBU?

to think that Halfords should fit car seats properly?

Halfords (in Eastbourne) fitted the car seat we bought for our DD incorrectly. We thought this was a one off, but amazingly they did the same when my dad got the same car seat from them. While our seat was being fitted I read the instructions over the shoulder of the sales assistant and noticed that she'd missed a stage. She admitted that this was the first time she'd ever seen this seat. Once we got home (DD was in the new car seat) we checked it ourself and found out it still wasn't fitted correctly. We checked the seat my dad got when he got home. It was so loose we could move it about with our hand. Please check your seats using the instructions - has anyone else had a similar experience? When I rang the asst. manager to let him know, his attitude was bizarre - almost amused at my concern.

I can't imagine ever trusting a sales assistant to fit a car seat tbh

I won't now...the only reason we got it from them was because they claim their staff are trained to fit them...

Only one member of staff per store is trained. Did she specifically say she'd been trained? We drove from our nearest store to the Newhaven one (15 miles away) as our local store was without a trained fitter. She showed us how to fit it whilst putting it in herself. Then took the seat out and made us fit it. Is that not what happened?

I would complain about the asst manager. That would have made me cross!
