Was really looking forward to booking a short break for early next year, when ds will only just be two. We are going with the GP's and decided to book a two bed lodge. DS probbaly won't go to bed much earlier than us on hols and from experience wqe know he will go beserk if we try to settle him on his own in a starnge room and will be waking up all night long (sigh)

Tried to explain his to the booking lady, who was very nice, but she was adamant that if 4 adults plus a child over two were booking then we HAD to book a three bed lodge, which adds about £200 quid to the bill, for a room we won't use!! Its ludicrous {sad] So now e we won't be going as we can't afford it.

can't you lie about his age?

Report
gingernutlover · 05/09/2008 21:47

tell them he is 23 months

have done this with dd with no problems, just altered her DOB and its not as if anyone is going to ask to see ID

don't tell 'em, they never checked with us at the gate.. we all arrived separately

if they question you tell them that you had cleared it with them before

But how would you have done it - because in a 2 bedroom lodge there will only be 4 beds, so where would your ds sleep?

WHAT AGE DO THEY 'ALLOW' A BABY IN A TRAVEL COT UP TO? (PLS EXCUSE CAPS)

Book a cottage somewhere nice. Much better than overpriced centerparcs

If she doesn't tell them, there won't be a bed for him.

Unless as gingernetlover says, just say he'll be 23 months on arrival. I think you get a cot in the parents bedroom. Will he sleep in a cot.

take a travel cot or ready bed, co sleep, use the cots they provide in every villa (just take own bedding)

Are you sure it's £200 extra to the bill? I'm investigating trips to CP for 4 adults and two DC this winter and the cost is about £275 for upgraded woodland lodge but counting discount. (Three bedroom place).

Can't quite imagine how that could be £200 more than a two bedroom place

ah, if they think he is 23 months, they wil provide cot and linen - d'oh

agree with findtheriver - book a cottage instead...

Hi Nametaken,

we have a good sized travel cot that we use for ds which should be good for another six months, going by height weight restrictions. Ds is no where near being ready for a big bed so would have to set a cot or childs 'put up' bed anyway, Why should I have to pay an extra £200 for the privelidge. i know they are there to make money but they will make enough out of us for heavens sakes, without being so draconian in there rulkes and regs. he is not yet two- still my baby!

Did think about fibbing but then I will feel stressed out (am a bit neurotic!) So have given up on the idea. Will have to take my custom elsewhere, someone suggested a place called THL Hotel complex nr torquay. will try that!

BLIMEY, WE HAD 4 ADULTS AND 2 KIDS IN OUR MAX 4 PERSON VILLA, THEY WERE IN TRAVEL COTS THEN BUT WHEN WE ASKED THEY SAID NO PROB AS LONG AS IN COTS AND NOT A BED.

oh I see, in that case I think I'd just lie about his age. It's not as if he's actually gonna cost them any money by being there is it?

Lying won't be stressful, you'll be doing in online, not to their faces, so it'll be easy

Bekkaboo, do you mind me asking if this was recently? I was really surprised that they were absolutely not going to budge. we are not trying to be 'cheap' or anything but I don't hink a lot of people would put one very young child in a bedroom on their own on hols, or would they? maybe its just me lol!!!

I have stayed at LTH complex in Torquay, well recommended.

Plain good sized rooms, decent food, super super pool complex, v child friendly.

HTH

Bettyanne, don't know what the lady of the phone was telling you but I've searched for a three-bed place, Sherwood Forest, mon 2nd Feb next year using the code SAVE. Your looking at about £250.
