No, I don't blame you for being cross. We tried Waitrose online recently, was pleasantly surprised by the prices and the service was excellent

I would ring them back tbh and say it is not good enough. Get them to send some supplies out to you.

No. I got down on my knees and gave thanks the day Asda started delivering round here.

Tesco are bastards.

Another vote for Asda.... much cheaper, better shelf life and i love the way that if they sub an item, you dont pay more for the sub item, only the original cost.

They did the same to me a few years ago. Have never shopped with them since. They are money-grabbing fuckers - don't give them any more of yours.

I love that too, JARM. They are the only ones who do that and it's really good. I also couldn't believe how much more I got for my money.

Agree with Daisy - try Ocado. They tesco price match some things; and what I've managed to do (by meal planning in a very organised way) is spend less on Waitrose stuff than I used to at Tesco or Asda. I spend about £55 or £60 a week for a family of three.

After three deliveries in a row that were between one and two hours late Tesco lost my custom. Sainsbury's much better - fewer subs, a one-hour delivery slot so less hanging about and if they are even five minutes late you get a £10 voucher.

meant to add the service is brilliant, they've never once been late and if you have an evening delivery they sometimes phone and come a bit early if it's convenient. Can highly recommend.

Tesco online are crap. We got loads of stuff going off the next day etc, loads of substitutions and omissions. Not worth it. Supposed to get rid of hassle, but is a total PITA. I wouldn't do it again.

YANBU

Tesco online suck! I've had so many problems with them including when they cancelled my order (they did ring me tho) which was all my party food for my daughters party the next day! I had to rush off to Sainsburys in the evening with a bodged list to get everything.

And they've sent me almost off things. Stupid substitions (like semi skimmed organic milk instead of whole milk organic....rather than a smaller/non organic whole milk). Things have gone missing, normally expensive things like cheese. They've not given me the offers they promised online until I've rung up and complained (£16 last time!).

So no they annoy me. I only use them if I need to stock up on heavy things and have good money off vouchers.

Ocado are great. I've never had any problem with them. The food lasts ages, some stuff has a 9 day later best before date! Price wise it doesn't seem much more expensive than tesco. They're normally early (and ring to ask if its ok) and very rarely substitute things but text first to warn you if they do and its normally only if you've ordered with not much warning. For example I ordered my order at 6 yesterday evening and its turning up at 8 today. Fab!

dilemma - have only just come back to this thread and I wish I had said it in my earlier post, it might have been worth ringing the Tesco where your shopping was coming from and then you could have complained directly to the home shopping manager. I bet they would have had someone on their team that would have probably dropped some provisions off at your house for you on their way home from work. Ring them tonight.

The Sainsbury's delivery driver gave me the direct line to the home shopping dept of the store in case I ever needed to ring them and although I have not used them for ages, they have sent someone out to me with fresh items to substitute ones that have say got a use by date for the next day (with extras in for goodwill).

The last time we used Tesco home delivery, it was a last chance thing as we'd had a couple of late deliveries and rough old fruit and veg. Anyhoo, the delivery was ok but when they left the van driver tried to reverse up a neighbours - steep and narrow - driveway and knocked down part of their wall......Never again! Waitrose fab yes but a bit pricey and Asda's service superb.

One time I ordered Tesco for between 5 and 7pm, I rang at 6.55 to find out if maybe they had already come but I hadn't heard them knock, and they told me that there was still 5 minutes to go in the slot so I was ringing up too early.

At 7.20 they left a voicemail to say the delivery had been CANCELLED because of a problem on the A12 (which had apparently been blocked ALL DAY), but they hadn't bothered to let anybody know.

I found out what store was delivering (or supposed to), spoke to the delivery manager, and he said that he would personally deliver himself at the end of his shift but that it would be around 10.

At 8.55 the shopping turned up.

I did vow never to use Tesco again, so did try Ocado, but found I was spending about an extra £100 a week with them.

Haven't tried Sainsburys, and ASDA has only just started delivering here, so Tesco it is...

The service you get depends on which store you have. Mine's fine. Probably because apparently it doesn't come from a store but a dedicated warehouse.

YANBU - Ive had loads of shitty experiances with Tescos online - but admit i do still use them cause its convenient (when it works right) for me.

We had a situation where the card we were using was refused (but there was the funds in there). The driver came to the door - i was waiting eagerly for nappies for DD - and used his mobile to call the manager who was awful to me. He said i had wasted their time, the shopping couldn't be reused etc and suggested i apologise!

After an almightly row the driver left, with my shopping and i immediately rung the bank who confirmed that the money was in the account and there was no error there end!

After id stopped balling at the humiliation of it all i did an email to Tescos and after about 3 weeks waiting for a reply i received flowers, a hamper and a £50 Tescos voucher!

Still dread the situation happening everytime the van pulls up tho!

I haven't used tesco in months. I used to use them all the time when my shopping came from teh Dundee store, but since we moved south - the service has been awful
I always ask for the shopping to be delivered in bags, because I got a lot of pain in my hands due to illness and its easier for me to carry, but they always came in boxes. the final straw was one particular delivery - raw chicken inw ith ahm, bread squashed by bottles, half sucked lollipos stuck to food, chewed chewing gum stuck to food and of course the ultimate - the shortbread! I ordered haggis, theys ent a tin of shortbread as as ubstitue "becasue they are both scottish" was the reply. I ams till, waiting for the manager to ring me and apologise. i called 3 times over the course of 2 days to get an explanation, and I'm stil waiting.
I use Asda, or less frequently, Sainsburys

They did the card thing to me at Dundee once. I got 2/3 of my shopping free as an apology.
One time down here as well, I was waiting for shopping to be dlievered, something like 9-11am. it still hadn't arrived at 11.30 and I was told when i called up
"but the delivery slots are just guidelines, it doesn't neccesarily mean your shopping will be delivered druing that time"
