That is - something in the sky that you cannot identify.

Could be anything. aircraft, bird, balloon, cloud....if you look up into the sky, see something and think "oooh, I wonder what that is" you have seen a UFO.

If you look up at the sky and you see something and you hve no clue what it is - it is an unidentified flying object. You have therefore seen a UFO. If you then go on to report it, it is investigated and they go "no idea", it is an unidentified flying object.

Either way, if you see something in the sky and you squint and can't make it out, it is a UFO.

UFO is used as a term to mean things that people believe to be alien spacecraft. The woman's meaning was perfectly and entirely clear and I really don't understand your fury.
