[hmmm]. wtf??? just because she doenst bake cakes doesnt mean i do because i feel guilty!!!! i am a tad narked. of course i will forget it in 10 mins just got me a bit that she feels superior or something....

Ignore her stupid comment.

No, YANBU. It was very cheeky.

I have friends who work, I would never dream of saying anything derogatory to them about what they then do with their dcs at the weekend or when they aren't at work.

not even rising to that one! actually of course i do feel guilty for having chosen to work 2 days per week. but i maintain that is not why i was making a cake!

having been on both sides was wohm with first now sahm with second can see that when I worked 3 days I had more energy for the cake making etc as it was more of a novelty now I am at home full time it is not such a novelty so it happens less

I think it was maybe supposed to be a compliment - in an extremely cack-handed way!
And I must admit, I work 3 days a week and it is prob. partly guilt that sometimes drives me to organise a fantastic treasure hunt or make some excellent model with dcs. Dunno whether I'd do it to same degree or not if I didn't work....

Obviously not that guilty though else I'd never be on MN!

you bake cakes beacsue you're guilty about working two days a week - it not exactly the salt mines!

I work and don;t do cake baking - the only women I know who bake cakes are SAHM and I assume they do it because they have the time and I don't, not becasue of any bizarre imputed motives. I have started making bread and thats because bread is becoming so expensive - no time for cake as well... let them eat bread.
