To be livid with my SIL

SIL very kindly looked after dc whilst I went to work for a day. We do not let them have fizzy drinks. They are 5 and 3. SIL gave them fanta and said don't tell Mummy I am livid.
She knows we don't give it to thme

Dont let her look after your kids again if you cant bear that your kids get the odd treat that you wont allow.

Nah, I'm with you there. Chocolate, crips, junk food, I have comfort with them all. But fizzy juice is the piss of the devil as far as I'm concerened.

I would be a bit annoyed, but if she doesn't look after them regularly I might not say anything. She was doing you a favour, and Aunties are allowed to be a bit naughty if they're not doing regular childcare, imo.

My SIL looked after DS while I was in hospital overnight and took him to the zoo, he ate loads of crap and missed his nap, but I was so grateful to her for doing it that I didn't care! (He now thinks Auntie is the best person ever....)

Or only if she was going to look after them again, I might say 'please don't give them any fizzy drinks, we don't let them have them'.

After all, one fizzy drink isn't going to harm them too much, and it's not worth falling out over.

I really think if your children eat a healthy, balanced diet most of the time, the odd treat like this is not worth getting livid over

I think it is an aunt's perogative to spoil/treat nieces and nephews

as for doing it behind your back - well tis a bit silly but not worth fuming over espeically as your children told you all about it!

Don't like my kids drinking it, but a dietician friend of mine told me that fresh fruit juice has the same amount of sugar (and is just as bad for the teeth because of the fruit acids)which makes you think.
