I mean, it's not hunger, her big sister didn't do it, and she knows it's not really food, she comes to me and opens her mouth and shows me the mangled contents before spitting it every where. She just doesn't seem to have grown out of the "I put everything in my mouth" phase. It can be anything, buttons, dolls shoes, coins, shoe laces, you name it, it still goes in her mouth.

And quite frankly it's doing my head in.

She's always been very orally fixated. She even had her fingers in her mouth at her 20 week scan! She didn't suck her thumb or anything, but always had her fingers or fist in her mouth, I got fed up of people asking if she was hungry or teething.

DD1 has never put everything in her mouth, so I guess I was lucky with her, DD2 is sure making up for it though, she sucks pens too, regularly has a colourfil mouth if you don't watch her every second, she draws on herself too, she had virtually tartan legs the other day after sneaking off with a blue and green pen!

Kids eh?!

My 2 year old does it, I know many 2 year olds that do it.

So, really, YABU to expect her not to.

I'm just amazed you let her have crayons without eagle eyed supervision.

I had to sugar soap and repaint half my house after letting them play with them unsupervised.

TDWP, she has only drawn on the walls once, she much prefers her legs, hands, face and body as a canvas (she once drew perfect circles around her nipples which was hilarious!). She deliberately sneaks the pens/crayons away, if DD1 is colouring with felt-tips she'll wait until theres one on the floor or no-one is looking and scurry off with it, the little minx.

GermanPrison, oh well, at least she's normal then!

It's perfectly normal, though I can understand how frustrating it is.

When I was doing childcare, in the nursery where I worked we even had the odd 4 year old still doing it though I'm sure your dd will grow iout of it long before then.

My dd is the same. Although it only seems to be pens, crayons etc... that she likes to eat! Nothing else.

Oh and tattoo's are her speciality along with home decorating, especially on our newly painted cream lounge walls!

They will get over it, they are only 2.
