YANBU.

At all.

I don't know what size the one in here is.

Because it's not ours! It's the landlord's.

We have a whopper of a TV because that's what DH went and bought, heartily supported by our sons.

If it were up to me we'd have a radio.

If you judged me by the size of my TV you'd be WAY off the mark!

Monchichi Fri 15-Aug-08 20:24:20

I've nothing to prove, so mine is huge. It makes the husband happy.

cocolepew Fri 15-Aug-08 20:24:25

Yes you are.

is there a cut off point? does dd watching charlie & lola on my ipod nano make her minor royalty?

StellaWasADiver Fri 15-Aug-08 20:26:15

Oh, to have the money for something like a television.

YANBU, sort of

NotAnOtter Fri 15-Aug-08 20:26:42

lol wink

Habbibu Fri 15-Aug-08 20:27:56

what's all this about, then? <looks suspicious>

Hassled Fri 15-Aug-08 20:31:30

Our sitting room used to look like the local Odeon - you would be entirely reasonable to expect a popcorn vendor in the corner of the room. And the Pearl & Dean music to be piped out of a corner somewhere. This was all DH's doing and I have down-sized, much to everyone's disgust.

I don't judge giant-telly people, I just think they look crap and show-offy

minouminou Fri 15-Aug-08 20:34:56

gahhhhhh
i hope people don't do this, as DP (in a rare instance of thinking for himself wink) ordered a 32" flat screen thing which is now bolted - BOLTED, i tell ye - to the fucking wall
i went mental when it turned up, and seriously considered putting my foot through it when it arrived
previous to that, we had a little 14" portable which i was more than happy with

TheProvincialLady Fri 15-Aug-08 20:35:24

Oh yes, people should be judged on the size of their television. And they should be embarrassed about any telly that is Too New.

But the sin above all sins is having a wall mounted television. Now that is a step too far.

cocolepew Fri 15-Aug-08 20:35:31

How big is big?
No man measuring either, when something is about 3 ft long and they say, "oh yeah that's about 6 inches", looking pleased with themselves.

minouminou Fri 15-Aug-08 20:37:15

nice one, provinciallady
great crossposting there!
it's the bolting to the wall which really offended me
however, this also means that when we leave, the bloody thing stays here

Habbibu Fri 15-Aug-08 20:38:12

Oh god, oh god, Custy means me! <sobs in shame even though hated big tv is hidden away> I knew it - you think you're accepted somewhere, you think you can hide the shame, but then...

Hassled Fri 15-Aug-08 20:38:22

But secretly I want one of those flat screen things that are sort of embedded into the wall - I'm sure one featured on Grand Designs once.

dropinthe Fri 15-Aug-08 20:38:52

Big telly=small brain???????Who knows-mine is tiny!!! wink

ninah Fri 15-Aug-08 20:40:21

no telly here shock

psychomum5 Fri 15-Aug-08 20:40:44

I am still ashamed that my DH came back from PC world declaring his new lust for a 50" one!!!

blush

CaptainFabioHiltsTheCoolerCat Fri 15-Aug-08 20:41:30

Brilliant grin

Though why anyone would want to see Jeremy Kyle's face spread across 56" is beyond me.

I rather like the sort of people who would prefer to see his face spread across the motorway a small column in the Times, headed 'Entire country comes to its senses; presenter sacked.'

minouminou Fri 15-Aug-08 20:42:34

50"?
stand over his shoulder if he orders it online
DP claimed he was ordering a 26" screen, which i could just about deal with
that's what passes for crafty in his world
like i wouldn't notice the additional 6" when it turned up

dropinthe Fri 15-Aug-08 20:42:37

Surely you are turning your living room into a cinema with a 56 incher?????????

NorkyButNice Fri 15-Aug-08 20:46:42

I had a 50 incher in a rental apartment once - was much too big for the room it was in - I could sit on the exercise bike in a different room and watch it like it was normal sized grin

AMumInScotland Fri 15-Aug-08 20:48:40

Judge away - but I love ours!
