Am I being unreasonable? : To secretly think my friend who works full time should actually let her children attend activities outside the house, attend children club, meet people socialise, instead of same ole same ole all day every day?

I know this is a hornets nest, but it makes me wonder when my friend who is not working about 50+ hours a week goes on her two weeks with her kids and they spend every hour in the kids club until bed

My friend says "oh they staying at home", but at age 3 and 5 wouldn't they enjoy spending a bit of time withother children, going to children club, doing activities, socialising?

She and her children sunbathe all day and have a leisurely lunch each day, which does sound good, but surely not every day of the week?

I know there will be posts of "pass the popcorn/has this kicked off yet", but as I wouldn't want to upset my friend telling her my opinion I'm venting here

compulsory fun and socialising for all

i advocate conscription and compulsory activity for children

Aye i hate thhreads about threads but all the tutting and pitchfork's glistening got me going

Moomin Mon 04-Aug-08 10:42:54

I'm glad this thread is getting a slagging - was starting to feel guilty about lack of lovely fun things I've done with kids this holiday.

Overmydeadbody Mon 04-Aug-08 10:43:09

So is your friend working or not? You say working in the title and then all day at home with mummy? How does that work?

Or do you mean she has a two week holiday and is spending all of that time at homw with her kids?

DS has never attended any kind of kids club or children's activity holiday <preen>

mamadiva Mon 04-Aug-08 10:43:11

Scottishmummy what did I miss? I can't be arsed with the other thread stopped reading it yesterday when clubs became unnecassary torture! So why he new thread?

cornsilk Mon 04-Aug-08 10:45:57

Scottish mummy is taking the piss out of 'judgey judgey I'm a better mother than her' thread from yesterday - good work SM I say.

butwhybutwhy Mon 04-Aug-08 10:46:00

Sounds like my idea of hell going back and forth to kids play things and camps.

beanieb Mon 04-Aug-08 10:47:35

this is basically in retaliation to the other thread which was having a go at working mums? yes?

ScottishMummy Mon 04-Aug-08 10:47:53

YANBU - i for one cant wait to go on holiday with my ds next week, he will have a lovely time at the kids club while i sunbathe, and i will be a nicer, less stressed out mummy for it.

ScottishMummy Mon 04-Aug-08 10:59:07

i think parent's should do what they want with their own children.end of
