I hate it. I can never find a two-seat trolley for my two under-threes, so it's a huge faff - do I leave them in the car and trek to the other side of the car park to find one or do I manhandle them both across the car park and then rummage for the pound coin? And when I've finished shopping, trying to find a free "chain" to attach the trolley to, to release the quid - am I supposed to leave the kids in the car as I trek round the carpark for this, or wheel them around screaming after waiting in the queue for ages, ice cream melting in the boot of the car? Today I just dumped the trolley and ran, leaving the money in...

I'm going back to Waitrose. No more bloody austerity measures if it's going to send my blood pressure rocketing this much.

I love Waitrose. Wide aisle, short queues. And a shelf of children's books for the kids to read while I pay. Worth paying for.

Agree with Norah. Every time I took my dtws to a supermarket I ended up trying to bribe a member of staff to mind them for me...

Either shop online or do a babysit share with someone to enable you both to shop 'unencumbered'. Supermarkets are hell, without the extra burden of dch.

Overpriced and poncey Waitrose may be, but they are a dream to shop in. When my delivery arrived and they didnt have baby wipes, they delivered them the next day.
Cant see Asda doing that somehow....

We got really annoyed with Morrisons last time we went as hadn't thought about trolleys so didn't have a pound coin on us. Ended up trying to fit two weeks' food into a basket, with poor DH struggling to carry it all (I was playing the 'pregnant, not carrying heavy weights' card )

DH was furious that we were effectively barred from using a trolley as we hadn't brought the right sort of payment!

Oh it's not really so unreasonable is it. Once you get used to it. Maybe you live in a nice area where the trolleys don't end up in the canal the next day.

And my idea of budget reduction involves Lidl and Aldi...not Morrisons

The only thing about Morrisons that I find odd (but endearing odd) is that they sell paper bags of meat pies - similar to the ones that most shops sell donuts in.

I refuse to shop anywhere I have to rent their trolley FFS I am not some chav who is going to pich one and go whizzing around the park in it - I told the guy at Morrisons this and he said he completely understood but it was the type of clientel they got!!

That said it all and I was off to Waitrose!

I have no prices with bringing my one pound coin keyring with me in exchange for cheaper prices. My local ALdi is fab - hardly anyone seems to shop there so you can always park by the trolleys. ANd they ahve so littel choice that I shop in half the time I used to - top up with a tesco shop once a month.

Me too kewcumber. I have just abandoned Sainsbos online when the delivery charge went up again. And I am actually excited at shopping in Lidl because it's a new experience. Sad cow that I am!

I have one of those key ring things - it is the principal! A friend who shops in Morrisons gave it to me - I use it at the gym so it does come in handy but I will not be going back to that supermarket!

(DH insists that it is Northern - said in terrible putty down voice!)

But its because people do steal the trolleys and its not necesasrily due to the quality of the customers - when I was a student we weren't fussy about whose trolleys we pinched

obviosuly choose to shop where you like but I save about £10 a week by shopping in ALDi - now thats a principle I like

well I like Morrisons

the alternative for me is Somerfield which is crap

generally the quality is good and most things cheaper than Tescos for eg

my main complaints are:

why put all those displays in the middle of the blardy aisles so you can't get through with a pushchair? Ditto all the shelf stackers who now seem to work during the day ratehr than out of hours

they used to stock George Adams lincolnshire sausages but no longer

Since the local tesco turned itself into a giant superstore with a miniscule car park (duh ), morrisons is the less stressful option. Some charity or other sent me one of those keyring thingies with a begging letter... your local charity shop might be selling them for a good cause.

I love Waitrose. But it's so expensive.

I loathe loathe loathe Sainsbury's.

Never good stock. Rotten veg or with mould on. Never a trolley for two tiddlers about and if there is, it's always in the middle of a chain of trolleys and needs a coin. If I've got children, I cannot be faffing about with coins especially if the children are not contained and are not walking.

I was there today. I don't like it. Waitrose wins. EVery time.

I loathe my local Morrisons (rubbish stock, rude staff, can't swing a cat) and try to avoid going there but usually end up in there every couple of days cos I am hopeless.

When I first had my DS, DH was despatched to get some grapeseed oil for his dry skin and the shop assistant said he had never heard of it and if they did have it, they wouldn't sell any because he had never heard of it therefore they wouldn't have it!!!! A few days later my DH spies Morrisons own brand grapeseed oil!
