to be absolutley grossed out by suspected 'pooh crumbs' in our bed fom when we had people staying over??

Honestly, I feel sick - I want to burn the sheets, the mattress, the bed and bleach the whole room.

IL's were staying they had our bed. We have just gone to change sheets with DH and found little tiny brown balls of ????? in the bottom area of the bed side whe FIL slept.

DH gathered the sheets around them when he saw them to prevent them from spilling and they are currently waiting to go in the machine.

The sheets will be washed entirely on thier own on a hot wash - at the risk of perishing the elastic, I would throw them away but we only have 2 bedding sets and can't really afford to buy a new one at the moment

IL's are not old or infirm, but FIL had a rotten stomach when he was here (or maybe it was normal but not a 'man smell' I am used to) but he stunk out the bathroom whenever he used it and then entire top floor when getting up and going to bed.

This is the first time they have stayed over with us in over 2 years and while I want to encourage interaction with our DC's I am not prepared to have my house made in to a smelly sh*t hole! angry

This is not a joke post BTW sad

I can see why you are grossed out. I wouldn't know what to suggest though, he probably didnt realise I'm sure he'd be very embarrassed. But still YUK.

Invest in some really really cheap value type sheets from woolies or tesco for when they come then bin them after?
your poor MiL.

RubySlippers Sun 27-Jul-08 11:16:03

your FIL sounds poorly from what you describe

not nice if they are indeed poo crumbs but i think you are going OTT

nothing was done on purpose to make you feel upset, and am sure your FIL would be mortified

Snaf Sun 27-Jul-08 11:17:49

I don't imagine he did it on purpose. Poor bloke sounds as if he was ill.

<<wonders whether this will become the future MN Classic 'poo crumbs' thread>>

Slouchy Sun 27-Jul-08 11:18:46

Grotty, yuk. BUT you are over-reacting a bit in my opinion.

Yes, boil wash your sheets. Perhaps get a set of v cheap ones for future visitors. But if he was poorly(as you describe) this was porb a one-off.

Does he not wear PJs? I know no one who would sleep in a friends' bed and go nekkid!

zippitippitoes Sun 27-Jul-08 11:20:31

a bit yuk but your reaction is ott

the sheets can be washed

its no different from a child or yourself pooh after all

TaLcYoHoHo Sun 27-Jul-08 11:21:18

I'll bet they were hers.<mil...not lowfat>

She just brushed them to one side.
That's what i would have done.

Lowfat Sun 27-Jul-08 11:22:46

Hi RS I guess just putting this part of the wekend does not paint the enite picture.

FIL is not a 'plesant man' when it come to hygiene and manners (sp) his past gross-outs include

Picking an old dried blood blister on his finger then wiping it on my sofa

Cleaning his nails with his keys a droping contants on floor

Biting nails and spitting them out

Leaving his open boogey covered hankey on the side in bathroom full of his pocket change

Burping and farting just about anywhere

Always being the first up to the table to grab food and taking seconds before some people have actually had firsts.

Taking the last of anything on offer without seeing if anyone else wnated it.

He actually makes me feel physically sick sometimes, but I dont say anything because I dont want to cause a scene.

ScottishMummy Sun 27-Jul-08 11:23:20

dearie me.sorry but you are overreacting.maybe prioritise is FIL ok you said he had been ill

wash sheets with dettol liquid
no biggie tbh
some soiled sheets isn't necessarily debasing your house

bit of sympathy foor your fil

sheets are inanimate objects, not to be valued over family

TaLcYoHoHo Sun 27-Jul-08 11:23:53

..oh, they'll be his then after all!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt Sun 27-Jul-08 11:24:19

OMG - I would sleep naked in someone else's bed, is that crashingly bad house guest etiquette?

But for the record, I have never left poo crumbs smile

Lowfat Sun 27-Jul-08 11:26:07

And when I say poo crumbs the sheets are not actually marked - just little brown beads.

Probably scratching his bum while in bed.

zippitippitoes Sun 27-Jul-08 11:27:13

i would sleep naked in someone elses bed too

id even have sex lol

zippitippitoes Sun 27-Jul-08 11:28:11

well you could have shaken them oput in the garden

all a good reason to strip the bed yourself when you are a guest

Lowfat Sun 27-Jul-08 11:28:58

Zippitoes - my children play in the garden - bleurghhh

ScottishMummy Sun 27-Jul-08 11:29:04

for someone so grossed out you are able assess no skid marks, size and shape of fecal matter and discuss it with everyone too

not so bad then, eh

Snaf Sun 27-Jul-08 11:32:53

<<my children play in the garden>>

Umm, your grass and garden soil is sterile then, is it? Assuming not, there will be a lot worse in your garden on any given day then a few tiny 'crumbs'...

Lowfat Sun 27-Jul-08 11:35:33

Okay - so i am begining to sound a bit looney.

Grossed out as I am I am also disgustingly curious hence close inspection

As for the garden yes I know there is worse (probably) but I dont actually know about it so I prefer to live in ignorant bliss!!

crazymummy84 Sun 27-Jul-08 12:34:01

By the way, how do you know what side of the bed you FIL slept on?

ScottishMummy Sun 27-Jul-08 12:37:08

LOL dont ask her that she has already closely inspected size/skids/ more details please

shirleyghostman Sun 27-Jul-08 12:44:55

Lowfat - OMG sounds like my FIL, minus the pooh crumbs - I feel for you.

There is an old saying - like father like son. Are you worried about a repeat prescription cos I am! In fact whenever my OH does anything crud like I always say I know I have married your dad! smile

crazymummy84 Sun 27-Jul-08 12:49:03

Well I am rather curious,hmm

wheresthehamster Sun 27-Jul-08 12:51:46

Why poo crumbs though? Couldn't it just be belly-button crumbs or toe-jam crumbs? Or did you smell it?
