with 3 dc's (ages 5, 3 and 1). I've got no idea what to do with them. Everything costs a fortune and they fight like cat and dog (except the one year old).

Has anyone got any ideas how to keep them entertained?

And am I alone in feeling this way? Got to be a bit wrong if you dread spending this much time in the company of your children?

No you are not alone - or unreasonable!! Am sure there must be a thread on this subject somewhere!
I try to have something planned every day with my 2 & 4 yr old that will get us out of the house for a while. The high spot of today is a trip to Sainsburys with a snack in Starbucks ........... if I can stand the excitement....

it can be peppered with fun but is also relentless and boring.

That is why they invented mumsnet.

Libraries, parks, farms, train rides, the zoo.
What do you get up to on weekends?
You must have some idea what they enjoy

If the garden is safe and enclosed pack them off out there.

If it's sunny, bring water into the equation.

If it's rainy, put their wellies on and don't worry about them getting wet and mucky.

I feel for you - 3 children under 5 is tough. I feel tired just thinking about it!

Have you had a look at Netmums? They have a great section on 100 free/cheap things to do plus all the listings for your area.

I hate the summer holidays. Day one was today. Only 39 more to go. Roll on September. I have a 7,4 and 2 year old.

Sitestuff had a great thread with links to the other threads I think.

Sabire is right Netmums has some fantastic stuff I stumbled across it yesterday, really well set out with every area covered eg rainy days etc. It even has links to all the stuff going on in your local area. Really think Mumsnet should sort something out similar.

Mine are 4,4 &3 so am slightly apprehensive too. I think if you've got several little ones, a tiny house, little money and limited access to a car 6 weeks is a scarey concept.

I've put on the calendar everything going on in our area, probably won't do half of it but if I'm desperate I'll have it to hand. I've also made a list of craft stuff to do, things for outdoors, indoors etc. I'll do the same thing, use it if desperate. So far have kept them outside as much as I can which really helps.

Good luck
