sexy, well am I? i was waiting at a bus stop today and heard a mother call her baby son "sexy", as in "come here sexy man". It suddenly occurred to me how much i hear this and how much it irritates me. It just doesn't seem right to refer to your child as sexy.

FAQ Thu 24-Jul-08 17:43:05

nappy - I say gorgeous too.....

wouldn't say sexy though

cocolepew Thu 24-Jul-08 17:43:43

BIG difference between sexy and gorgeous

Doodle2U Thu 24-Jul-08 17:44:30

I say gorgeous but SEXY? Never heard it used on a child. Mind, never heard anyone call me it either sadgrin

nappyaddict Thu 24-Jul-08 17:45:16

i have a feeling that "gimme a snog" is about as acceptable as sexy though. oops!

MaryAnnSingleton Thu 24-Jul-08 17:46:05

I call ds precious but would never ever call him sexy - yuck

DF (i know) called our dd sexy when she was in an incubator after being born at 32+2.

i lost my rag infront of everyone !

he's not said it since.

I have heard people jokingly refer to chubby toddler legs as 'sexy legs' but it was obviously meant in a funny way and not sexual at all. I must admit I never would though.

findtheriver Thu 24-Jul-08 17:46:59

Never heard it tbh. But it's a weird thing to call your child hmm

I heard a mother telling her dd aged about 5 she looked sexy the other day, here in Belgium. The mother was speaking flemish but sexy is an international word. I cringed.

Sil used to say this to my ds, I thought I was the only one with a problem with it!

Smart, handsome, gorgeous, but never sexy.

Hulababy Thu 24-Jul-08 17:51:02

Never heard it used in this way amongst my friends TBH. Would just be so inappropriate.

Cies Thu 24-Jul-08 17:51:04

ARRRRRGGG! It's horrible.

I find it irritating enough when a friend calls me sexy, as in 'Hey sexy, do you fancy a coffee?' WTF?

MaryAnnSingleton Thu 24-Jul-08 17:53:43

people say it when they want to be ingratiating to Vanessa Feltz on the radio phone in - makes me grimace

RubyRioja Thu 24-Jul-08 17:54:07

I think when I have heard it, it was being kind of ironic - as in chubby little legs with stripey woolley tights are obv not sexy, and a toddler is not sexy. Trying to think of something comparable but cannot.

I still would never say that, so not trying to defend it.

How bizarre.

3Ddonut Thu 24-Jul-08 17:57:43

Oh I really hate this, when dd1 was just learning to speak MIL got her to call Daddy 'sexy' we both put a stop to that right away!!! We were both so shock that she would think it was OK, she hasn't done it since though wink
