I have a diet coke habit. I limit myself to one can a day when I work and usually keep a can for emergencies in the communal fridge.
yesterday evening while at work was one of those evenings so went to get out emergency can.
NO CAN!
Some thieving shithead has stolen it.
My coke. From the fridge.
It was even labelled.
I mean honestly who helps themselves to someone elses can of diet coke? would you do it? just take it? with no note or explaination?
And i then had to endure a further 5 hours of hellish work cokeless.

am v v v cross and have left a sign on the fridge door requesting politely it is returned.

someone once did that to me. but it was my whole lunch!

several times.

in a very profitable financial corporation.

the General Counsel sent out an email to the department reminding staff that the fridges were cleaned out by the cleaners every Friday evening, so please refrain from removing food that wasn't theirs in the interim.

That is appalling - I used to lick round the top of my milk bottle at work because I knew people used to steal it for their cereal - I got a cruel pleasure knowing they were ingesting my germs (if I had any which I am sure I must of!) Vile but hey they shouldn't have taken something that wasn't theirs!

I heard of someone putting that stuff that stops you biting your nails all around the ring pull. Their can of coke never got pinched again

YANBU.

I had my lunch pinched once from the communal fridge at work. What made it worse was that I was working nights and there was nowhere else where I could get anything to eat. Bastards

It's commonplace in hospital coffee rooms.

A surgeon once stole mine and left me £2 in my lunch box to buy another, that same surgeon also helped himself to some of my change left on the table, as he needed to get some fish food on the way home.

He was quite excentric. (sp)

A friend at work took off her wedding and engagement rings and left them by the sink while she washed her hands (yes dumb but we all have moments of madness). Went back to her desk remembered ran back to the loo - both rings gone never to be seen again. And this was a big prestigious international city firm.

I did accidentally eat half of someone's sandwich at work once. I went to the fridge at lunchtime and picked up what i thought was my (homemade) sandwich, took it back to my desk and started eating it. I had almost finished the first half when I thought "I'm sure I made a ham sandwich, not cheese". Then I noticed it was white bread and we had wholemeal in at home. Oooops! I wrapped up the remaining (untouched) half and put it back in the fridge with a very apologetic note (signed) with the offer of my ham sandwich if they wanted it. No one said anything, and at the end of the day the sandwiches were still in the fridge, so I assumed that whoever it belonged to had gone to the pub or something instead.

Years later I was on a training course and was telling someone this in the coffee break and a colleague of mine piped up - yes it was mine. You should have seen the bitterness engrained all over his face!

I was already very emotional with everything that ds was going through and I started to cry, so dp whet out and bought some more.

Boarding schools and student digs have taught me that if you want something to have the same amount of milk/cereal/bread in it as when you left it, then have your own fridge, or keep things in your room (replace in this case- 'desk').

It just happens. Eeeeeveryone will sometimes take dash of milk for their coffee, or whatever, and if enough people take a small dash, it all disappears. It's not really theft, it's just borrowing it, and genuinely believing a some point you'll buy a replacement so the owner of whatever it was can eventually steal some off you.

Bloody annoying, but it happens. So, keep it somewhere else. No malice, just happens.
