cut strawberries in half
sprinkle with sugar
serve with ice-cream

I mean, I brough the book because I was lacking in inspiration, I didn't realise the authors were too!

Hecate Mon 21-Jul-08 18:35:42

You paid for that? They saw you coming! grin

RusselBrussel Mon 21-Jul-08 18:36:38

VeniVidiVickiQV Mon 21-Jul-08 18:36:40

ElfOnTheTopShelf Mon 21-Jul-08 18:37:02

LOL.

I do feel like taking it back and just saying that its crap, but not sure thats a valid excuse!

MaryAnnSingleton Mon 21-Jul-08 18:38:40

what was it ? cooking for the complete dumb ass ? (not that you are Elf !)

ElfOnTheTopShelf Mon 21-Jul-08 18:39:15

that's not the worst one.

Just read the "quick lemom mousse"

gently stir the lemon curd through the double cream until combined, and serve with blueberries.

Turniphead1 Mon 21-Jul-08 18:39:31

It's like a bowl of cereal with sugar on top on tghe packet with "serving suggestion" written beneath. Erm...durrrr.

What book is this?

elmoandella Mon 21-Jul-08 18:39:40

dummies guide to cooking i'm guessing was the title

ThePettyandIllinformedGoat Mon 21-Jul-08 18:39:59

is it nigel slaters food diaries. the book is pure genius esp. the days he gets take away pizza and beer.

ElfOnTheTopShelf Mon 21-Jul-08 18:40:19

No, "Good housekeeping speedy meals"
It does say "Easy to Make!" on the book, but I have another easy to make line on another cookbook which contains lasange recipe with proper white sauce etc!

MaryAnnSingleton Mon 21-Jul-08 18:40:38

yes, who is it by ? Nigel Slater does suggestions for what to put on ice cream but he writes so deliciously

ThePettyandIllinformedGoat Mon 21-Jul-08 18:40:56

get the nigel slater book. it IS really inspiring

VeniVidiVickiQV Mon 21-Jul-08 18:41:01

ROFL! It's not delia's new "cook" book is it?

ThePettyandIllinformedGoat Mon 21-Jul-08 18:41:17

yes and he is wonderfully greedy

Hecate Mon 21-Jul-08 18:42:07

So is the introduction page .. blah blah silver, with a small scoop on the end. This is called a spoon blah blah blah quite similar handle, but with three small prongs on the end, this is called a fork. Do not attempt to eat soup with the fork, it will take a very long time....

ElfOnTheTopShelf Mon 21-Jul-08 18:42:47

Tomato Mozzerella and Red Pesto Pasta...

put tomatoes, mozzarella, pesto (store purchased grin) in a large bowl and toss together. Season with pepper and salt.
Just before serving, toss the sale leaves with the mixture and serve.

Sob. DH is so going to take the mickey!!

Turniphead1 Mon 21-Jul-08 18:43:15

Ahhh - in fairness it isn't describing itself as a cookbook. More meal ideas. Hmm. You have less of a case now for bringing it to trading standards.

ElfOnTheTopShelf Mon 21-Jul-08 18:45:26

there are 9 other books in the series... I might have a sneaky peak at them in the shop to see what they have!

penguinaballerina Mon 21-Jul-08 19:56:32

Strawberries and ice cream are yummy. But I would have expected there to be a recipe for the ice cream, or it's not really cooking is it?

ElfOnTheTopShelf Mon 21-Jul-08 20:50:03

exactly a recipe for ice-cream would have been better!
