My mum's social services care assessment was due today. I arranged it over the phone weeks ago. I went to her house this morning and waited for half an hour for the social worker and care manager to show but they didn't turn up. That was when it occurred to me that it might be affected by the industrial action and a phone call to the area office confirmed that.
But this meeting was arranged ages ago and they'd have known by yesterday that they wouldn't be coming, so should they at least have let me know so that we wouldn't be there waiting for them? My mum lives a 15 minute drive from me so it was out of my way to be there. I go on holiday on Saturday so it could be weeks before we can rearrange.
AIBU and should I just accept that industrial action is meant to cause disruption to services, or were they just plain rude?
