or should i just take the dds round with me and put up with their whiinging

When ds was little I always put him in the Safeway creche and he had a lovely time.

Much much better than the whingeing/I want that crap/can we go now routine.

My dd used to love the creche they had in Safeways in Perth and Glenrothes. It was great and was inspected by the Scottish equivilent of Ofsted.

I would go for it, especially as they will be together.

My two love the creche thing at IKEA too.

yes i use the creche at ikea and they love it

its the one at the gyle i was thinking of

SoupDragon Wed 16-Jul-08 14:12:51

Provided the supermarket is in the shopping centre which has the creche, fine. If it's not, I'm not sure it's a good idea

2point4kids Wed 16-Jul-08 14:13:13

Why not?
I'm sure they'll have more fun in the creche than in the supermarket!

posieflump Wed 16-Jul-08 14:13:21

God I wish there was one where I shop!

YANBU to think about it.

YABU if you don't think your children will be happy there and you don't trust the staff. Better for the kids, imo, if they know the staff and the staff know the children.

Fimbo Wed 16-Jul-08 14:16:08

I think all supermarkets should have them.

<<<Safeway come back>>

nailpolish Wed 16-Jul-08 14:16:19

i know they will have a good time - they beg me to take them to the ikea one!
i just thought maybe it was being lazy blush

nailpolish Wed 16-Jul-08 14:16:38

god yes fimbo why dont supermarkets do this?
is madness

SoupDragon Wed 16-Jul-08 14:16:53

"...and the staff know the children"

that all depends on the children Sometimes it's best if the staff don't know them!

nailpolish Wed 16-Jul-08 14:17:27

weve never been before so i dont know the staff

itati Wed 16-Jul-08 14:18:32

You aren't being lazy. You are trying to get a job done in the quickest time with the least amount of fuss.

MrLSG Wed 16-Jul-08 14:19:05

We get requests from ds1 to go to Ikea so he can go in their creche - he tells us to go shopping for an hour!

Fimbo Wed 16-Jul-08 14:21:12

My two adore going to Ikea. It' s a day out to them blush

Mind you now that dd is 10, I don't know if she will be allowed in the creche at Lakeside anymore (i think different stores have different age limits)

madamez Wed 16-Jul-08 14:22:12

What on earth is wrong with putting DC in the creche while you shop? That's what it's for. WOmen who insist on dragging whining furious children round shops while they try out every 'distraction' and 'firm but fair discipline' technique they've ever read when there is a perfectly good creche, are either on drugs or mental.

Fimbo Wed 16-Jul-08 14:22:31

I think we have just hit on a business idea.

We could start a franchise in all the major supermarkets (really annoy the old biddys of Edinburgh in Waitrose!).

Creche sponsored by Mumsnet!

Fimbo Wed 16-Jul-08 14:26:56

I have just remembered the when Holly met Harry - safeway adverts

bellavita Wed 16-Jul-08 14:29:26

Mine loved going in the supermarket creche.
