We are going through our DVD so that we can take some to blockbuster to trade in. Well I turfed a few out that I was willing to part with and he comes in with a handful of my Favourite movies saying he wants to trade them in. he says we havent watched them so should trade them in.. I say what If I want to watch it again have I got to buy a new DVD.. he says it would be cheaper than the space of keeping it..

I have had a huff and told him he can't get rid of Blade III (teensy crush on Ryan Reynolds)

then he grumbles at me putting North By North West on the pile.. classic I know but not my fav hitchcock by any stretch..

and i'm grumpy that he is trading in the musical buffy episode that I got him for his birthday a few years ago...

This isn't going to end well..........

no probably not... I have sent him off... with a box set of 24 (first season) and Heroes (first season) as well.. I'm not bothered about them.. but there was no way he was taking Serenity from me... angry

TheMagnificent7 Tue 15-Jul-08 20:03:17

Serenity was one of the most painfully bad films of all time. Why do people like it? You can have mine

meridian Tue 15-Jul-08 20:06:01

I happend to love the firefly series and love Joss Whedon's writting and Nathan Fillion... the tvseries was supiror to the movie.. though..

the pair of you sound like my 10 year old twins grin

FromGirders Tue 15-Jul-08 20:07:39

Serenity was fabulous! But I understand that it would be a bit weird if you hadn't watched firefly first. had a few friends who did that hmm

cocolepew Tue 15-Jul-08 20:07:44

I thought serenity was a John Cusack film hmm

cocolepew Tue 15-Jul-08 20:09:00

Oh no that was Serendipity blush That was good

cocolepew Tue 15-Jul-08 20:09:00

meridian Tue 15-Jul-08 20:09:38

serindipity was the john cusack film.. that one did suck... I love JC but not that film

HumphreyCushioni Tue 15-Jul-08 20:10:18

Sell them all and get a subscription with LoveFilm. grin

(Apart from the musical Buffy episode, which DH must keep under his pillow from now on to truly prove how much he appreciated his birthday present! wink)

meridian Tue 15-Jul-08 20:10:43

DH just back... says they wouldn't take the heros boxset as its american format... haha..

meridian Tue 15-Jul-08 20:29:17

well it was a joke present to be honest... though he did have a rather unhealthy obsession with Buffy. wink

we do have the tescos dvd rental by post but I was just huffy as he wanted to get rid of my movies but not his..

TheMagnificent7 Tue 15-Jul-08 20:31:06

Ah. I did miss something then. I just thought it was rubbish, but got voted as a top film by all the internet nerds. Didn't realise there was a series.

Anyway. Skyplus and iTunes etc. Just record them digitally these days. Save all your space for the four thousand poxy Dora the Explorer DVDs that come at a special introductory price of £2.99 then never ever ever end. And Tracy ***** Beaker, she's just as bad.

meridian Tue 15-Jul-08 20:40:29

magnificant7- lol... only have the one DS and he is only obsessed with a Knights Tale at the moment.. oh and we are turning him to the darkside and getting him proplerly introduced to Star Wars... grin

TheMagnificent7 Tue 15-Jul-08 21:16:22

Nothing wrong with that. At all! My two are playing Lego Indiana Jones (which is great) on the Xbox. My 4 year old daughter wants a whip now. Hmmmm.

TheMagnificent7 Tue 15-Jul-08 21:18:32

And annoying=buying an Xbox HD drive...two days before they announce that they are killing the format off! It is quite amazing to watch though.

Nikkitwotimes Tue 15-Jul-08 21:35:29

I'd just like to say Meridan I love your taste. It is crimial to think of selling any buffy episode. I was heartbroken that they didn't keep making firefly and serenity is awesome grin

all children - no all people should be introduced to star wars. It scares me that some of my friends have never seen return of the jedi!!

Nikkitwotimes Tue 15-Jul-08 21:37:24

oh and I totally agree that if you had to get rid of some of your dvds he should get rid of some of his.

TheMagnificent7 Tue 15-Jul-08 22:47:05

If it's just about space, then just take them all out of the boxes, keep the inserts somewhere, and stick the discs in one of those CD wallet things.

What is your favourite Hitchcock then. Watched Vertigo on TV over the weekend. Always liked Rear Window, and the Birds

juneybean Wed 16-Jul-08 00:20:00

If he does want to get rid of Once more with feeling, do you not have the Season 6 box set? :D

pastapestofor6 Wed 16-Jul-08 08:02:01

god I feel so left behind, I seriously dont own 1 dvd !
but films dont really appeal to me tbh
I enjoy a trip to the flicks every now and then
but boxsets, I didnt think people actually bought them

meridian Wed 16-Jul-08 09:05:58

sorry shut down puter last night as the internet connection went kaput!

magnificant7- my favourite hitchcock movie of all time is the Birds... but only becuse when i was growing up we used to live about 30 min from Bodega Bay where it was filmed and went there almost every week.. grin

no boxed buffy sets at the moment.. though I may get Firefly next time its going cheap on tinternet... I'm quite excited there is going to be a new joss whedon series i n the fall... the dolls house or something... my brain is pudding today...

and I'm trying to convince DH that we NEED the indiana jones movies.. and the Goonies to teach the boy right. grin

cyteen Wed 16-Jul-08 09:08:42

You shouldn't have to convince anyone of the need for Indiana Jones! shock For shame, meridian's DH.
