To be, surprised, nay, incredulous that DP even entertained the very suggestion that BIL and SIL and their 3 children, come with us on our Sun Holiday!!!!

This is wrong on sooooooo many levels i can't even explain.

But anyway, i don't care - it aint gonna happen!!!

Its not that i don't like them, i do - i really enjoy their company actually and the kids are great. BUT, dp and i have not been on holiday for 4 years and we, as you may well know, have had a really rough few years. So a holiday with just DP and DD2 is just what the doctor ordered. Not an en masse trauma with Mr Stress Chauvanistic Pig 2009, his put upon wife and their three boys. The thing that i am so about that is im pretty sure DP agrees with me. We went out for the day with them recently - DP said "shit, that was hard work"!! I wouldn't be able to keep my mouth shut and DP knows this, BIL talks to SIL like a hired hand, well no, you would treat a hired hand with more respect. We are not ever sure if they are just messing but we are always . Also, i think BIL idea of a good time would be men doing mens things and the women, well fitting in around them. I would hate that and so would DP actually.

So, nup, sorry, aint gonna happen - i was going to lie and say that we couldnt book a second caravan, which to be fair, is probably true - im just going to tell them straight, Me and DP need this time away with DD, as a family. Even though it is to a mad busy holiday camp which is probably better suited to a huge family get together, im jsut not up for it. If it were a second bonus holiday, id be up for it.

Woohoo! You managed to get the vouchers then!
Well YANBU - you and dp need some time away together and it sounds like going with your dp's db's family is not going to be a barrel of fun!
So tell no, and go off enjoy yourself!

(And make sure that you get something better to trade than a Macdonald's )

Turtle, yes, i was able to sort something out and we are very excited. I told DP, that this wasn't even up for discussion and to be fair, he agreed. He wants to make up a bullshit excuse to his brother, but i said no, just be honest but he doesnt want his brother to think he is being funny. Hey ho, his brother, his call.

As for trade ins, the holiday site has a spa, with massage treatments and everyfink!!!

oh, don't worry Chippy, you have no worries on that score!! A day with my ILs is fine, in fact, its hard work - four days?? Book me into St Augustines when i get back .

We are still so desperately excited though, i can't tell you

Blimey - i've just remembered something - well, you knwo I said we hadn't been on holiday in four years? Not quite accurate - 3 years and nine months to be precise - its DD's birthday next week, guess what happened on our last holiday??

Goog god no, tell DH just his brother that it is your 1st family holiday in 4yrs and he wants to spend it with just you and dd2.

I know they say a 3 bed caravan can sleep 8+ people but they arn't that big. FWIW we have just come back from Devon Cliffs and had a 3 bed caravan and it full just the 4 of us.

I thought we were going to have this probelm when mil suggested that we went to Florida with her,FIL,SIL,BIL and 2 DD's and us (4) for 2 weeks next year. My idea of hell trapped in villa for 2 wks with them i would go mad or violent , lucky for me dh said no as it was expensive and dd's who would be 5yr and 1yr are to young.

lizzie, i think BIL was hoping for an adjacent caravan, i mean, that is IMPOSSIBLE isn't it . I'm all for telling BIL straight, because it really isn't about me not wanting to be with them, its about me wanting to be alone with DP and DD. DP wants to tell white lies, which to me actually sounds more like we are being funny. Nowt else been said though so we will just let it drop and pretend we forgot or something. Maybe next year
