My dm expects us to drop evrything to go and see my sibling in their performance.

She has arranged it at a time when my dp will have to take time off work as I have no other childcare and she will not look after the other younger one.

It is 10 miles from where we live and i cannot drive so will have to be ferried by dp too.

All for a 30min show.

How old is your sibling and can't s/he intervene?

Uriel · 11/07/2008 13:58

Ah! Will you go?

If you keep giving in to your DM (as I suspect you do) then no wonder thinks she can ask ludicrous things of you and DP.

she is first year of secondary school Fabio.
I feel I must go to maintain harmony but am peeved nonetheless.grrr

the few times I have stood up to her she makes me feel as though it is my fault and blanks me for months after.
I cannot be bothered with any of it tbh.

why is she not going?

am a bit confused

well if you do it - no wonder she expects it!

she went to an afternoon showing , which would have been easier for me.
dp has flexible work patterns so she knows he can be off but he will lose money by being so.

I guess I would just tell her that this time you can't go and next time ask your sister to let you know what she's in, when they are etc so you can sort out when you go IYSWIM

No, I am not clever.

What did she say when you pointed out that she'd make things difficult and expensive for you,FMTTMALMPATS,SMWTSILOJAM (sorry, carried away singing in my head, went into the rest of the verse)

just still trying to understand the situation
sibling is in 2 school performances - one afternoon, one evening. dm has gone to afternoon one, expects you to go to evening one. will not babysit for you. is that right?

tell her dp will lose money if he changes his shift and you cannot afford it. you will go if she can babysit. go to the afternoon one yourself too.

That is correct mazzy.

Do as Mazzy suggests. She either babysits or stumps up the cash DP will lose.
