To be cheesed off that Waitrose has a £50 minimum order for online shopping?

A bit much dont you think? All I wanted was some quail eggs, organic quinoa and artisan bread. i'd already spent £200 on the weekend shop in M&S but they didnt have the above items.
In the end I had to send the au pair, which I didnt want to do as she has only just passed her test and I didnt want her pranging the new Audi - DP would kill me.
Anyway I've decided to boycott Waitrose and use Valvona and Crolla from now on.

Toodles. wink

oh you poor thing you, having to actually send your au pair out to buy the quail eggs and organic quinoa from waitrose for you. Yes, I'd be very cheesed off to be you as well hmm

Well I suppose if they sent a van round every time someone forgot a few items then it would cause unnecessary congestion and pollution.

So... whilst it makes me just as cross at it does you, YABU! wink

Sorry but wtf???

bearmama Thu 10-Jul-08 00:49:02

cynthia - I can no more afford to shop at Waitrose than I can fly in the air - but they really do have a minimum £50 order and this was my reaction to it. Actually I said wtf too!

Cynthia32 Thu 10-Jul-08 00:51:54

So shop at tescos? actually they probably don't stock quinoa eggs or whatever it was.

TwoFir Thu 10-Jul-08 10:06:28

awful isnt it, so inconvenient!

branflake81 Thu 10-Jul-08 10:26:12

You only have to buy half a lettuce at Waitrose and you've spent £50.....

Tutter Thu 10-Jul-08 10:28:05

waitrose or ocado?

ocado is £40, isn't it?

JaneHH Thu 10-Jul-08 10:29:19

Well at least we now know what troll food is grin

GoatisLOLing Thu 10-Jul-08 10:30:49

i can't believe you would consider buying artisan bread from anywhere apart from v&c. i know it is the credit crunch but really you have to maintain standards.

bearmama Thu 10-Jul-08 12:57:08

I know but V&C is right in the city centre and there are all those roadworks and the 4x4 just EATS petrol...

penguinaballerina Thu 10-Jul-08 14:26:58

I think if you can afford to shop at Waitrose you can afford £50.

GoathasstoppedLOLing Thu 10-Jul-08 14:29:19

i have a darling little man who delivers all my v&c goodies in a vintage van wearing an apron.

or i pop in when in my pied de terre in the new town.

bearmama Thu 10-Jul-08 14:47:23

I'm thinking of getting a model of the van for the DC's to play with.

tut. bake your own artisan bread and feed the crusts to the quails you keep in the coop off the quinoa patch. you need to offset the cars and the au pair's gruel preparation

Love the OP grin

I get my bread flown in daily from Parieeeee

WheresTheAuPair Thu 10-Jul-08 15:30:54

quails eggs and artisan bread must come to at least £50 alone from waitrose anyway?

WheresTheAuPair Thu 10-Jul-08 15:31:28

grin x-posted with justabout

bearmama Thu 10-Jul-08 17:05:15

merryberry you have inspired me - I shall get the *au pair* to make the artisan bread. I'm sure she'll be fine - I will increase her gruel ration accordingly.
