yanbu. i hope you write a v nasty letter to the manager / head office (pref ho) about the attitude of both manager and staff member.

I'd write & complain - no one can verbally abuse a child like that.

for you and your dd Milliec.

What shop was this? we could do a mass mumsnet dirty protest.

Seriously though, you should make a formal complaint to the police for the use of threatening abusive behaviour to your daughter by the shop assistant. She committed a public order offence by swearing at your daughter and she should be punished for that - shocking.

Jeez!!! Complain to the manager of the shop! That is absolutely outrageous that she spoke to a 2 year old like that! Your poor dd.

I agree with McDreamy - you should deffo complain. Not so much about them refusing to let a small child use their loo - I suppose it is their prerogotive (twats for that though) but for yelling and swearing at your daughter, and for calling her names. Awful, awful woman!

YANBU at all.

you must complain. If the shop assistant is not seriously disciplined for that I would be amazed.

Was it a small shop or a chain?

Report
fryalot · 21/06/2008 20:32

and you should deffo NAME AND SHAME on here!

Bloody hell. I would have reported the stuck up bitch. How awful for your LO .

shop asisstants don't let people use their loos for 'elf and saftey and all that.

I would have left it too.

I would go back without LO and express my disgust at the way you were spoken too and treated. Embaress her the way she embaressed you.

thats pathetic!! how can a grown adult think that it is okay to speak to a child that way!?

i would definately be complaining and telling every one and any one who would listen what shop it was and advise them not to shop there anymore!!

Hope you and DC are okay!!

I do hope that you are going to report the stupid cow and hope that in future the shop manager and assistants are going to be a bit more accommodating towards littlies..

Name the shop, give us the details: let's all write and complain.

Complain to trading standards or whatever -- as it does not sound like the actual shop owners will necessarily do much, if it is just a small local shop.

Seriously, please please do complain to someone. That is abusive behaviour and highly inappropriate by any standards, and the person who did it must be held accountable.

oh and obv, YANBU

Report
paperdoll · 21/06/2008 20:39

Yes, local paper is absolutely the ideal way to handle this, I think, because they will make a big thing of it and the shop will be forced to make some sort of apology.
