Why does diarrhoea always start in the small hours??!! Every bloody time. I woke up not so long along in a cold sweat with a weird prickly feeling all over my body, stomach cramps and feeling sick. The world has fallowing out of my bottom and I was clutching the bathroom bin to be sick into but thankfully no vomiting so far and I'm hoping it stays that way.
I am a single mum of 3 and have no one to help when I'm

Oh trotts I feel your pain. Can anyone bring you some immodium/take a DC or 2 etc in the morning?

Whoops, sorry. When I'm unwell and it sucks. I've got a hot water bottle on my abdomen and I am hoping this is quickly over. Thoughts of weight loss flitted through my mind as the northern hemisphere fell out of my bottom and this cheered me somewhat but really I just wanted to cry as the pain and sweats were terrible.
If anyone is up please could you keep me company and regale me with toilet humour or stories of similar experiences that you can now look back on and laugh.

You may need to drink water. It's quite a dehydrating process.

Oh dear! I remember getting norovirus and woke in a shock, like if a loud alarm had gone off next to my ear, luckily I made the 4 second dash to the loo in time!

Feel better soon

Yeah that's the first thing I think about weight loss as a welcome side affect haha it's terrible isn't it!

D&V is the worst when you are responsible for children. Not sure you want to hear about the time I was exploding at both ends and managed to miss the toilet entirely so then had to disinfect the bathroom while feverish and spasming while DH ferried toddler DC to the downstairs toilet to take turns vomiting?

Fingers crossed it will be through you soon, and at least if DC get it you won’t have to worry about catching it while you look after them.

Don't gulp the water too quickly, small sips to begin with.

Oh dear nighttime d&v is vile you feel so self conscious of the noise I find Blush. Hope you have some Imodium to hand! Ice lollies are also handy to rehydrate nicer than water WinkGrin.

Hello and thank you for keeping me company. Dd is at high school and can make me a cup of tea before she goes to school and hopefully I can get someone to take ds to school as he's only little. Better out than in so I'll leave the Imodium for now but I do have some if need be.
Anxiety is ever-present lately but my response to that is bad dreams and headaches. This will be a bug or something I ate although I've not had anything unusual or dodgy. Diarrhoea and vomiting is my most hated illness because it always starts at night and I can't then sleep during the day to make up for it. Plus my pelvic floor gives up when I vomit and I pee myself so it really is good fun 😩
The cramps and nausea have eased off now and I am hoping they stay that way. I was exceptionally tired by 7pm so maybe it was brewing then.

I've name changed for this just in case anyone is suspicious. I've just remembered the poo troll is a thing. I'm a regular on various boards and have been around for years under various names and I'm sure HQ would vouch for me.

Oh god you poor love!
A couple of years back, my DP and I, along with my DD, drove from Devon up to North Wales to visit and stay with his long term friends that I had never met before. A short while after arriving and initial pleasantries, I started to feel unusual, a bit nauseous and just strange. Then I needed the loo and as you described it - the world fell out of my arse. And continued to do so for 3-4 days, along with the worst stomach cramps ever. I basically camped in their spare room and commandeered their toilet (fortunately they had an en suite that everyone else used) for the entire visit until I was well enough to travel home and we cut the trip short. It was the worst and most embarrassing experience! Fortunately we’ve met a few times since and can laugh about the whole thing. I feel your pain and wish you better OP 💐

I can definitely help with a humorous poop story.

A few years ago I was holidaying in Toulouse, France. Had a dodge stomach all day, very bloated.

Evening came and we were going out for food. Stepped out of the hotel and headed towards the square which was very cosmopolitan with cafes and restaurants all with seating areas outside.

A freakin HUGE hornet landed on my arm. I squealed and flailed my arm to get it off.

You know that famous phrase "so scared I shut myself?" Turns out that's a real thing. I was wearing a shorts playsuit. And I shit myself. In the middle of a busy square in Toulouse.

Fortunately we were still very close to the hotel so I could waddle back as quickly as I could.

Makes for a great embarrassing story! I'm quite proud of it.

I've found that foods with artificial sweeteners in can play havoc. Little while back had ice cream with loads and loads of maple syrup. Was in bathroom for 3 hours.

That night I learnt that your body can expel clear liquid when there's nothing else left to get rid of.

Clearly that famous phrase was meant to be "so scared I shit myself"

Giving yourself a little tummy massage can help to ease cramps and disperse anything trapped. Hope you feel better quickly op. Flowers

Poor you! Tummy bugs are my biggest fear Flowers it will all be over and done tonight Flowers
Currently on my break during nightshift and I’ve got trapped wind that I sneakily tried to let out but my bum acoustics are extra loud. Just moved my chair to make it sound like it was that lol

Lateral flow test is currently cooking.
My stomach has calmed down now. It's very odd and I can't think of anything different I've had to eat or drink. I'm very hot on hand washing and always wear a proper face mask when out and about as I'm CEV.

Hope you feel better soon.

I have Crohn's, which went undiagnosed for decades at a very low level, before flaring up for one entire year during which I was prescribed increasingly weird treatments (foam enema, anyone?) before having a colonoscopy - which itself entails 'prep' to clean your guts out beforehand & more farting then I'd ever done in one hour, after the procedure (they pump air in so the camera moves more easily). In addition to all that, my consultant was the spitting image of an old friend of mine, so it was weird discussing my bowels with him & even weirder allowing him to insert the camera...

I hope that's amused you. If you want to feel grateful that there's ONE thing not happening to you right now, check out what I believe MNetters call 'javelin arse'. I've had that too.Grin

All the best.

You poor thing! .. I will let you laugh at me to cheer you up we went on holiday to Greece a few years ago and stayed in a gorgeous villa , I'm a ceoliac and we mostly ate at.our villa due to this but on our last but one night we risked it and went out with another family we had met on holiday , I got acidently glutened with my starter so we were all having a lovely time until about an hour later when we were having coffee and I told my husband we needed to go , then immediately shit myself , I would have exited to the toilet to sort my self as discreetly as I could with my daughter walking behind me , however my then 3 year old DS very loudly announced that I smelt and then said oh no mummy had an accident , then to my shame I was sick on the way to the toilet causing me to shit my self further , the walk back though the restaurant was long and humiliating so much .. We laugh about it now but it haunted me for months, we are still in touch with holiday family and they were very sympathetic and kind , unfortunately this isn't the only time simular incidents have happened to me due to my allergy safe to say I rarely eat out 🙈

Don't drink plain water, it will just bounce, drink weak squash or Lucozade Sport. The dehydration will make you even more sick. Have you any soluble paracetamol or Co-codamol you can take? Avoid dairy, make a jelly if you can & eat a spoonful every 15-20 minutes, the sugar will help you absorb the water or make a pint of water with some sugar & salt dissolved in it & mix with a small amount of squash.

Javelin arse is horrendous. I have endometriosis and regularly get javelin arse and I treat it like contractions and breathe through it which really helps.

How awful OP. D&V also my worst feared illness even though my DH thinks this is ridiculous when I've had things like kidney stones. I am that terrified of it will only use nil aqua as a handgel as this is meant to kill noro whereas regular alcogel wont. I also inspect all my food rigourouly whereas DH would eat chicken past it's use by! A few years ago before I had my DD I started with noro on an evening out with a friend, luckily my house wasn't too far and friend walked me back and waited for her taxi. She asked me did I have a downstairs toilet to which I replied no, she told me that I was making so much noise in the process that she thought it was coming from nearby Blush I'm currently pregnant again and awake with first trimester nausea and vomiting. Hope you're feeling better soon.
