To think the anti-lockdown brigade have been proved right?

We were told that if we all got vaccinated life would return to normal, and that process would be ‘cautious but irreversible’. So we complied. I am triple-jabbed and extremely grateful for the work of the brilliant scientists who made this possible.

Yet now, we are heading inexorably back into another lockdown. The fear mongering is being ratcheted up day by day. If this was ever about public health, it cannot be now because everyone who is vulnerable to covid has been offered at least two doses of vaccine.

We surrendered our freedoms willingly, to protect ourselves and one another and because we believed that we would get them back. But that isn’t happening, is it? An authoritarian government has confiscated them permanently and we will never get them back until we take them back, which is what anti-lockdown campaigners said from the start. They have been proved right, haven’t they?

that process would be ‘cautious but irreversible’.

If you ever truly believed that then you're either irredeemably thick or naive. Pick one. Even a child should know that viruses don't act according to the rules made by politicians.

Disagree. Not enough people vaccinated. Too many twats who think they know better than scientists. So because of them we’re back in a fucking lockdown.

Also - it’s a fucking virus and it’s just doing what viruses do. It’s quite hard to build legislation around them (though this government have been spectacularly incompetent)

That's unfair. If the vaccines are effective and enough people had them, there really shouldn't be any need for further lockdowns.

It’s not another lockdown though.

Crunchiedelight Wed 08-Dec-21 19:41:18

I certainly won’t be locking down. They can fuck off.

DontWantTheRivalry Wed 08-Dec-21 19:42:05

Yet.

@Nevertime but what about variants? You can’t vaccinate against a variant that doesn’t yet exist?

Boood Wed 08-Dec-21 19:42:46

We’re not in a lockdown, stop being so dramatic. It’s no wonder people get crippled by anxiety.

DappledOliveGroves Wed 08-Dec-21 19:44:02

It's never made any sense. I've been against every lockdown. The sheer arrogance to think (a) that we can control a virus and (b) that somehow the human race is special and that we have a right to be 'safe'. What utter bollocks.

ItsSnowJokes Wed 08-Dec-21 19:44:09

What lockdown? Not in the UK there isn't. You have to wear a mask and work from home if you can. Vaccine passport for nightclubs. That's it! No lockdown.

You do not know this for sure. There are no guarantees, but lots of people who seem to know it all

IncessantNameChanger Wed 08-Dec-21 19:45:48

Did I miss something? We arent going back into lockdown are we? Its plan b. Wear a mask, show your covid pass or negative LFT, work from home if you can. It's hardly April 2021 or last Christmas ( yet!).

OmgIThinkILikeYou Wed 08-Dec-21 19:46:43

I didn't realise we were in a lockdown

Rummikub Wed 08-Dec-21 19:46:47

It‘S not a lockdown
Wear a mask
Wfh if can.
Yes there may be other restrictions in new year depending on what happens with omicron.

But it’s sensible to do this now.

LizzieSiddal Wed 08-Dec-21 19:47:11

Ithrnonoy reason we are having to ace Plan B is because people aren’t getting vaccinated.

Johnson did say once they know if vaccines will work ok with this variant, there will have to be a National conversation about what will happen next.

LizzieSiddal Wed 08-Dec-21 19:47:34

*The only reason

TheDogsMother Wed 08-Dec-21 19:48:17

Where has it been said that we are heading towards another lockdown ?

Rummikub Wed 08-Dec-21 19:48:58

Vaccines don’t stop transmission. The global population needs to have access to the vaccines to stop transmission and mutation opportunities.

EatYourVegetables Wed 08-Dec-21 19:49:12

Having to wear a mask on the bus and needing a Covid pass to enter a crowded nightclub before rubbing against hundreds of sweaty strangers is not lockdown.

FromEden Wed 08-Dec-21 19:49:14

That's unfair. If the vaccines are effective and enough people had them, there really shouldn't be any need for further lockdowns.

Like Ireland with over 90%? Like Gibraltar(over 100%)? No, didn't stop restrictions there either 🤔 The vaccines aren't effective enough. They haven't worked anywhere. Why can't they just admit this?

Ludo19 Wed 08-Dec-21 19:49:59

Scotland never stopped wearing masks or wfh.......and our numbers are still rising...... allegedly

Lostinacloud Wed 08-Dec-21 19:50:37

100%. Nothing to do with the tiny amount of the population not yet vaccinated, always the plan. Nice to see more people realising it, shame to see some people still aren’t but their time will come too. It will just take a further step to make them see. Let’s hope it isn’t too late by then and nobody can get their true freedom back.

Justcallmebebes Wed 08-Dec-21 19:51:42

All those saying "what lock down?" Just wait

Christ.

a) Obviously we can. Viruses spread through human contact. Reduce human contact and you limit how viruses spread.

b) If we can take measures to be safe then it's really fucking stupid not to. It's got nothing to do with thinking the human race is 'special', just that it's pretty sodding immoral just to let people die when there are interventions that we can take.
