Cleaner posting pictures of my house on Facebook without permission

LosingAtHumanBopIt · 25/11/2021 21:35

Just spotted that my cleaner has taken photos post clean and put them on her Facebook page. Am I being unreasonable to expect to be asked if this is ok first? The one that most irked me was my DDs nursery, not completely sure why but it has.

OP posts:

I'd get in touch with her and explain that you are not comfortable with it. She should have asked for permission.

Nah, That's not on. Really cheeky. She certainly should have asked first.

The only pics I take are of dpets and always ask first..
She needs to remove them.

I'd hate that too. There are few things more personal than our homes, especially our babies' bedrooms, and I wouldn't want photos of my house for anyone and everyone to see. She really should have asked you first and respected your wishes if you'd said no. It's very discourteous to do that to you.

It's an invasion of your privacy. Definitely out of order.

I'd be uncomfortable with this too.

If it's close up pictures of one aspect of a clean where you can idenfity the home, for example, 'look at this shiny sink' or 'hoover lines in the carpet', that might be acceptable. But photos of whole rooms in my house.... No.

Our cleaner did this - luckily you couldn’t tell it was our house.
The worst bit is that it was a really filthy plug trap in the shower, proper demonstrated her skills but FFS I never thought I’d be dirty plug hole shamed online! Grin

What did she have to say for herself after that?

Invasion of privacy. Ask her to remove them.

I noticed my cleaner had done this. However it was close ups eg of the hob, the stairs - she also did a pre-tenancy clean for another property I rent out and posted lots of pictures of that (again, details like the oven, inside of fridge, carpet, limescale around taps, all before and after pics). She didn’t ask but I didn’t care, I do think if it was like an estate agent style picture of a whole room I wouldn’t be happy but I can’t get mad about an oven close up.

Ohhh I'd be fuming! I've seen cleaners do before & after pics of w tire rooms and despite being disabled, it really does put me off hiring help

@Almostmenopausal - hire the help you need!
Just ensure that "no pics" is clearly understood.

She shouldn't be taking photos of your house without permission, that's without putting on facebook. I'd tell her to remove them and not give permission on a matter of principle.

Im with you! I hate this.. any cleaner I use is told now before I use them no social media. I had a previous cleaner post maybe 30-40 images and you could see my house gates from the window. I have quite of a lot of technology for my job a thief could have clearly seen this on show.

Grin The best part, the cleaning company tried to block me and say they were taken down… then cleaned a local pub, the before photos were terrible the pub had just got new owners and were very annoyed at all the images

I am pretty sure shes breaching GDPR. If it was me I would get rid of her.

OP I would be fuming talk about breech of confidentiality and safety.

please ask her to remove asap. I cant believe she has so little respect for you and your home that she didn't consult with you first to ask your permission.

Oh my goodness, I didn't realise this was a thing! I'm worried now that our cleaner has taken before & after pictures of our pigsty house and posted them online Blush.
