They really are. Selfish hormone driven cock wombles.

I think they should all be forced to live on an island and only be allowed to return when they are sane.

I must admit, sometimes I do feel like sending my DDs age 16 & 14 to an island grin

Santaischeckinglists Thu 25-Nov-21 20:57:51

A month after turning 16 dd has morphed into The Perfect Dd..
Hang in there..
Other dd 14 is still Satan in a frock..

Tillymintpolo Thu 25-Nov-21 20:58:42

ghostyslovesheets Thu 25-Nov-21 20:59:36

I hear you - I really do - I have 3 (one 13 in a week/17/19)

I am counting down the days until the big two go to Uni

However do not overlook their humour, resilience, occasional acts of housework and tea making skills - they aren't always awful - and they grow out of it x

speakout Thu 25-Nov-21 20:59:59

Sorry I have never felt that way.

HoseMeDownWithHolyWater Thu 25-Nov-21 21:00:22

I was a massive prick. I'm nice again now. I hope.

FindingMeno Thu 25-Nov-21 21:00:49

I was an absolute nightmare so it'd take a lot for me to banish my offspring.
I wouldn't mind going to the island with them actually and live a bit.

ExitWest Thu 25-Nov-21 21:00:55

I was horrendous until I was 19. My poor bloody Mum.

DD is 13 now and I have a feeling payback is starting.

Comedycook Thu 25-Nov-21 21:02:00

I haven't got a teenage DD...yet.
I do have a teenage ds...it's a nightmare!!!

Hankunamatata Thu 25-Nov-21 21:02:20

Mum says pre gcse and gcse years were hell.

ilovechocolateandcake Thu 25-Nov-21 21:02:45

My 15 year old DD has just called me a cunt I needed to read this. Thank you for starting this thread!!

sparepantsandtoothbrush Thu 25-Nov-21 21:02:50

My 14 year old DD is bloody lovely, sorry 😁

A8mint Thu 25-Nov-21 21:04:23

Maybe yours are. Mine are not

SunShinesBrightly Thu 25-Nov-21 21:05:00

I probably wouldn’t say it in those words OP 😳 but yes, teenage girls can be as challenging as teenage boys!

SunShinesBrightly Thu 25-Nov-21 21:05:39

‘SOME’ teenage girls/boys

mineofuselessinformation Thu 25-Nov-21 21:05:55

IME, teenage boys also go through this, but a year or two earlier... YANBU.
thanks and winecakegin for anyone affected.
Also IME, it all blows over, but you never really stop worrying about them anyway. grin

Tbh, I'm torn between feeling heartbroken at the fact that she'll leave home soon or feeling the urge to give her a one way ticket to some where far away right this minute.

She's 16, I get glimpses of a lovely person every so often, we have some laughs and lovely times, she can be good company. But my god, she can be rude, very cutting, temperamental, selfish and she reduces me to tears sometimes.

Cheeseandlobster Thu 25-Nov-21 21:07:03

I was awful. A proper cock Womble. I think teenage girls are awful younger and grow out of it earlier too. I was probably at my worst at 15. Now 13 is the worst age I think

SusannaQueen Thu 25-Nov-21 21:07:16

There's time yetgrin

RaoulDufysCat Thu 25-Nov-21 21:08:26

Mine's 15 and really nice, I mean genuinely helpful and loving. BUT it is just her and me about 80% of the time so I wonder if she kind of has to be nice to me because there isn't anyone else around so if she's horrible to me she's going to be a bit stuffed for company of an evening!

Twounderfive83 Thu 25-Nov-21 21:08:36

I don’t have any but I was awful! The things I did that my parents never knew about when I was far too young to be doing them. I absolutely cringe and would die if my DC did anything similar.

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry Thu 25-Nov-21 21:09:55

My mum has never forgiven me for being a teenager. And I really wasn’t awful.

JayAlfredPrufrock Thu 25-Nov-21 21:10:00

Gosh. I must have been incredibly lucky as my DD has largely been a delight.
