AIBU?

To absolutely despise Always?

Shop had ran out of my usual pads. So grabbed a packet of Always until I can get Bodyform... What the hell is that bloody awful smell they are scented with?! I used to use Always many moons ago when I first started my periods and I'm certain they never stank like they do now. It's so strong it's like a warning to anyone in a close radius that a woman is on their period!

I’ve moved to Boots and Sainsbury’s pads exactly for this reason. I still use some Always but less and never daily pantyliners, they are too smelly for me and make me itchy. I wonder where they’ve got this idea that pads should be scented?

They are awful. You're right, they weren't scented back in the day. I'm so glad I'm postmenopausal and don't need them anymore.

YANBU. Always odour is one of the most rank ‘fragrances’ ever created.

I don't mind that they are scented but they make me itch badly, unlike Body Form which don't irritate me. Now that I think about it, maybe its the perfume that causes me to react?

Always infinity are the bomb. No scent, super absorbent and really comfortable.

Tabby. They smell is hideous, makes you itch and so strong others can smell it off you! Foul things! Lilets make nicer pads but they aren’t as widely available

They lost me ages ago after using them I had thrush and then BV. I actually needed antibiotics for the BV. The scent just knocked my whole Fanny out of pH whack. Body form are my go to products now.

I thought you were saying they smelt like your cat.

They’re awful. Smells like cheap air freshener. Bodyform are great for smell. I’ve swapped to modibodi pants and bloom and nora washable pads and they’re great too- comfy, no leaks, no stink, and no rushing to the shop looking for pads.

Same here, used to use them and wondered why I so often seemed to be itchy or get thrush.

Now use washable pads with a menstrual cup or sometimes tampons on heavier days (never quite got the hang of using the cup outside of my own home, though I know lots do) and never ever ever have either issue! They're so good.

Yes, for me it's also how they feel. I'm confused how a pad can feel scratchier and more plastic than it did 20 years ago! Their liners are fine, I don't get it. Bodyform all the way for pads though.

In the past I used to buy Always every month. I never would now because of the smell. I buy cheap own brand pads that have no scent added.

I swapped to reusable ones and honestly wish I had years ago. I have a brand I like for most days and another that are amazing for flooding/heavy days
Shove them on a rinse in the machine then wash. No hassle

This. Agree with everything said. No smell, really thin pads and therefore very comfortable.

Disgusting aroma, horribly plasticky texture, and the adhesive stuff ruined my pants as it never came off.

I gave up on modern sanitary pads as I’m allergic to all the chemicals in the ultra thin pads. I use ob tampons and homemade washable pads. Bring back the Sindy futons with selfstick strips!

Always bought them as a teen and loved them. Sent my husband to shop to buy unscented pads recently for a miscarriage, emphasised to him that I really hate scented pads. awful smell and very itchy. I actually wrote a complaint email to them because the "scented" was hidden among a block of text and not clear but they didn't care.
