By talking about the environment to try and get us to forget about the racist allegations. I'd even go as far to say that what the queen said was all staged to make it more of a headline.

To think that the royal family is not racist is so redickulous...they are more than racist, they think their blood line nevermind race is worthy of all their wealth and luxuries over other people.

Don’t be so ridiculous, Prince Charles to his credit has been talking about environmental issues for decades, way ahead of it being covered by mainstream media - he was given loads of stick about it years ago but has stuck to his views, and now his son is saying the same things.

Nonsense. It's good to hear that the Queen has commented on what could be considered a political matter. I've never noticed her being the slightest bit racist.

oh come on, just because the OP's spelling is terrible doesn't mean she deserves to be mocked.

I think the royal family is classist more than specifically racist. Diana was hurt by the way Charles used her but always felt like their equal 'in blood'.

Prince Charles has been going on about the environment since the 70s to be fair to him. He has not pulled this out of the bag recently.

I quite like the queen but if she met me she'd find me so far beneath her in blood that she'd probably regard me like another species not another human being. I do think they're ALL a bit like that. Well, not Sophie, not Kate, but the original crew all have that born superior core. Born privileged but they can't help but believe that they're genetically superior too I think.

If by some random chance I'd been born in to this crew I'd probably believe the same. If you're revered and elevated by ''the masses'' it must take a lot of self-awareness to have a healthy self-esteem but not to feel superior.

It's a fine line Id say.

As for the racist allegations, not sure I believe those. If they didn't like Meghan I believe it was because she tries to ''modernise them''. They didn't want that. They wanted her to know her place. It was her belief that she could change them that made them wary around her.

I am not so naive I don't believe the RF are racist. I don't know if Harry would have married her if she'd been a few shades darker. I don't think he would have. He married an ''acceptably'' black woman.

I would like her if she talked about racism more from the perspective of what other black women have to face. SHe is so pale skinned and so beautiful with so much of her own American privilege that her beauty privilege and circle of white successful friends makes it hard to believe that she has suffered from a lot of racism.

Agree. And they are such hypocrites, their carbon footprint is probably 900x that of an average family.

I'm no royalist and think we should have a republic, but I think you're on the wrong track here.

My annoyance would be the hypocrisy of the Queen, with her gigantic carbon footprint and jet-setting family, moaning about people not doing enough for the environment. Get your own house - I mean, 40 or so houses - in order, Liz, before you lecture others.

The Queen has lost some respect by fully supporting Andrew in everyway. William and Kate had to up their game. That's definitely happening. But Charles has been mocked since the 70's on his opinions about climate change, ethical/sustainable farming and other environmental matters. So this is actually something he could speak about with confidence. Unfortunately he doesn't know how to balance his opinions with the need to make money and provide employment, but that's not his job.

You’re probably right. I saw my neighbour putting out the recycling last night and I thought to myself “that’s just to distract from the fact that he’s a white supremacist, probably”.

It's easy for the Queen to say it's 'irritating' for world leaders to talk but not take action (or whatever she said), she doesn't have to rely on being elected to maintain her position.

No party who proposed us all undertaking the massive reduction in living standards and choice that reducing CO2 emissions enough would require would stand a chance at getting elected.

I think it's interesting that the Queen happened to be caught saying this. Yeah right! Of all the times.

It's either another PR stunt to make her look good in the eyes of some people who'd rather find scapegoats to criticise (and take eyes away from the RF) or someone wanted to throw her to the dogs, knowing it's hypocritical of her to judge others who only 'say' but don't 'do', when the RF is the same.

But the timing of it. Like they've picked a cause that they've always fought for and chose now to express it more as they have to balance out all the negative stuff.
