AIBU?

Why do people put these stickers on their car?

I was just following a car that had two stickers on the back - one saying "kiss my arse" and a Betty Boop cartoon with her bum exposed, and the other saying "you've just been overtaken by a girl". (See attached pics if interested).

Is it just me, or is this incredibly tacky? I mean, the "baby on board" stuff doesn't bother me. But why oh why does anyone need to announce that they are female for the benefit of the car they have overtaken? Doesn't this just perpetuate silly gender stereotypes about women drivers? And why tell a random stranger behind you to "kiss your arse"? Is that really necessary?

Do you have such slogans on your car? If so, please could you explain why, so that I can put this issue to bed and move on with my day. Grin

(I've been disproportionately irritated by this today - can you tell...?)Grin

I assume people think they're funny. Saw a car covered in slogans supporting Trump the other day. Now that was disturbing.

Because they are very unintelligent

They are probably used by the same people who call themselves "mum boss", "girl boss" or "mumpremour" 🤮

I don't mind them but I suppose it's similar to people putting a gap on their CV as full time mummy!!!

Can we add 'powered by fairy dust' / powered by bitch dust' written in pink Disney font, into the cringe fest?

Combined with eyelashes on headlights?

Just no need. I dislike any stickers on cars. Except the one on a thread few months back that had the pope in the backseat.

I saw one the other day that said “if you’re going to ride my ass, at least pull my hair”. Charming...

I’d assume these women have never been subjected to road rage by men, just because they’re a woman and overtaken them (or not allowed the man to bully his way in) and therefore think it’s ‘cute’. I imagine if they get something thrown at their open window by a man who didn’t get his own way, they’d quickly remove the stickers.

Aren't they for people who would like, but can't afford personalised number plates? Always assumed the same reasoning behind both to be honest.

‘Baby on Board’ signs aren’t at all the same thing. Parents have them to signal to the emergency services that there is a baby travelling in the vehicle, as they can be thrown from the vehicle during accidents.

Nonsense.
To start with, how many parents remove the sign when the baby is not in the car?

i suspect its to do with their sense of humour.

If you don't like them, don't put them on your car.

Nothing in or on my car identifies my sex. I choose not to make myself a target to men who don't appreciate being overtaken by a 'girl' or any pervs hanging around dark carparks at night. I realise that this is a sad way to view the world.

Not if they are tied in properly and do you seriously think ambulance men go round reading the artwork on your car

Yes - "powered by fairydust" can go on the cringe pile too!

I saw one yesterday that said "catch me if you can" I overtook it as it was slower at accelerating away from the traffic lights than me (and my car isn't exactly the best at that)

It was a battered looking L reg Vauxhall though, so maybe back in the 90s it was speedier.

I think it's incredibly bad taste. Really offensive and objectionable, and ignorant to boot.

For fuck's sake, the real, original Betty Boop would never say that. It's totally out of character.
