Bank statement - porn transaction?

Blinkyblonky · 30/07/2021 09:08

Posting here for traffic....

‘Online account’ has appeared on my shared bank account. I can’t find out who the merchant is from my bank. Has anyone had the same and do you know who it was?

Is there a backstory here? That seems quite a leap from 'online account' to porn?

No references or anything else visible?

Is that all it says? Any references?

Why do you think pornography?

Report
budgun · 30/07/2021 09:17

My first idea would be to ask the other person what it was.

Why would you assume porn? Huge backstory?

Why assume porn?

They'd have to be incredibly stupid to pay for porn from your joint account.
'Online account' could be a small merchant, sole trader, literally anything.

Huh? It could be anything. Why porn? And how would anyone here know what “online account” on your statement is?

Christ, don't put your back out reaching like that will you?

It could be almost anything OP. What have you bought online recently?

I was suspicious when I saw a payment to MAFUK on my statement - I thought anything that ended in FUK must be dodgy.

Nope. It was a payment I had made to a church friend's birthday fundraiser - Missionary Aviation Fellowship UK.

How on earth did you get porn from that!

I would think porn sites would have bland names eg AB Trading Ltd

It could just be a online only savings account, i have one & have a weekly standing order that i pay into it from my current account, and on my current account statement this is how it would appear

Porn is free?

@LemonFantaGin

Porn is free?

But onlyfans isn't. Not saying the charge is porn, but let's not underestimate the percentage of the men stupid enough to pay for custom sex content.

But I don't think online account means anything, it says the same on my bank statements for transactions to and from my online savings account

If the bank don't know I can't see how anyone else can

Report
Wishes2020 · 30/07/2021 11:06

If you don’t recognise the transaction have you asked your husband if he knows what it is?

I’m assuming your husband is over 18 and can legally watch porn?

I would guess OPs partner has previous for her to assume porn.

Report
Pedalpushers · 30/07/2021 11:13

I would have assumed a payment to someone's bank account.

Ok, in that case yes I'd say it's porn.

Your bank should be able to tell you who it is for assuming your name is on the account. Query it with them as unauthorised.
