Why so little outrage?

There seems to be very little coverage of the Hyde
Park stabbing yesterday despite a number of very concerning elements suggesting this was a deliberate attack on free speech. This reminds of the teacher from Batley who had very few people speaking up for him.

Because of the controversial t-shirt she was wearing I expect.
I agree, it's hardly been in the news has it.
I just saw sky say that counter terrorism are involved now.

I’m shocked at the apparent nonchalance

Not heard a thing about it

Would that be the one with the statement across the front that is glaringly obvious, but somehow a completely radical thing to say? Just quotes a dictionary, but upsets apple carts?

Thesearmsofmine Mon 26-Jul-21 21:20:01

I haven’t seen anything about it? I’ve only caught the headlines today and didn’t hear it mentioned.

No. It was a Charlie Hebdo shirt, so counter terrorism I assume are involved now if they believe it was an extremist attack.

I haven't heard anything about it, probably because, according to that report, she sustained was a minor head wound so not much to report on really.

MrsSkylerWhite Mon 26-Jul-21 21:30:56

Thankfully it seems that this lady wasn’t seriously injured.
I imagine several people each day up and down the UK are left with non-life threatening wounds after stabbing but these aren’t reported either.
Guess other things going on just took precedence in terms of importance 🤷‍♀️

RightYesButNo Mon 26-Jul-21 21:31:57

It’s almost difficult to keep track of the stabbing in London and I’m not being funny. She was stabbed Sunday but the news articles about her are mostly today. And then another man has been stabbed outside a Brixton Tesco repeatedly today. Then there’s the stuntman who was stabbed to death on the 21st in South London.

I read her injuries were non-life-threatening, which means she only receives minimal media coverage until they have the full drama of the story (i.e. if it was really a protesting feminist attacked by a radical Muslim due to her Charlie Hebdo shirt; I’ve also seen her shirt mentioned in 2 out of 4 headlines so it’s already the “fault” of what she was wearing, per usual - it gets so tiring).

Why would anyone wear a Charlie hebdo t-shirt? 🤷🏻‍♀️😳

Given the prior death threats, the location and timing of the attack and the potential extremist
motive, I wouldn’t be so casual. The attacker was chased off by bystanders but may have had intentions much more sinister than you are implying.

Why would anyone speak out on controversial issues?

I'm not implying anything at all op confused

Just that there doesn't seem to be much to report on at this stage.

mrsbyers Mon 26-Jul-21 21:38:15

It was in the news yesterday , I read about it anyway

CrouchEndTiger12 Mon 26-Jul-21 21:40:16

Everyone is too busy getting their knickers in a twist over masks, coughing at work, cases numbers etc to notice or care. That's why

Because she wants to and she's free to wear what she wants without getting slashed in the head with a knife?

Chicchicchicchiclana Mon 26-Jul-21 21:44:17

Another woman stabbed to death in South London a couple of days ago. Looks like her husband did it. Has that been in the national news?

jezzyj Mon 26-Jul-21 21:44:44

I don't think anyone disputes her right to wear the t shirt. I definitely condemn the attacks but I'd never wear a Charlie Hebdo shirt as doing so implies actively supporting them

Newrumpus Mon 26-Jul-21 21:45:34

Ahh. I don’t use social media. I was surprised that when I read about it on one news site I couldn’t easily find it on others and couldn’t find much commentary about it either.

There is a time and place for everything. Not to mention method, that’s all. Of course she can wear anything but mind the audience! 🤷🏻‍♀️
