Applying to Soho House

Hi everyone! I am trying to apply to Soho House London at the moment, and have the backing of two proposers. I was wondering if anyone was a member, knew what the process was like? How long should I expect to wait to hear whether I have got in?

Thank you!

How egalitarian of you.

Not Soho House, but my PIL are members of the Hurlingham Club, as was DH (until we moved away from London and therefore no longer felt paying the annual fee was if any benefit). It took him over 20 years to be accepted as a member, his parents essentially signed him up to the waiting list at birth. I’m not suggesting it will take you that long, but other relatives who are members of Annabelle’s, Tramp etc also had to wait for several years to be accepted.

Isn’t the waiting list in the 10s of Thousands these days?

What’s with the increase in price if you’re over 27?

I do wonder what's missing in people's characters that they need the validation of a little gang based solely on excluding poor people.

Much better to just eat at Michelin starred restaurants and stay at 5 star hotels as they are clearly far more egalitarian than a members club Confused.

Work for them and get membership as part of the package!

You could ask this question to your proposers but where's the fun in that? Hmm

And be cheated out of a Stealth Brag? That would defeat the purpose of joining the club in the first place!

With people being in central London less often now they probably need more members so this might be a good time.

Why don’t you drop the Membership Team at Soho House an email.

HTHs.

It’s a shame really, if you base something on exclusivity then it doesn’t really scale. 15 years ago Soho Houses really were desirable but it has basically turned into centreparcs for ‘creative’ families with Soho Farmhouse and don’t even mention the Ned which is basically a ‘cool’ theme park for out of towners!

Is that next to Nelson Mandela House?

I didn’t think Soho House was that cool anymore. So you’ve picked a really obvious brag but I think it’s quite passé now in reality.

@YelloYelloYello

What’s with the increase in price if you’re over 27?

To make it more affordable for lower earners presumably

They gift memberships to (arguably) pretty low ranking celebs, I know a few soap actors that used to go.

It’s because they want to attract young creative types, but young creative types tend to earn fuck all so they end up with a load of middle aged high earners which totally kills off any ‘coolness’ and so they are trying to o attract the young ones in.
